Reader Review of the Week: 2010 Lexus HS 250h

Reader Review “Hybrid Convert” from Fontana, Calif., spent 20 years in two different luxury cars. When it came to his next purchase, he wanted to increase his fuel economy and decrease his carbon footprint. This led him to Lexus’s high-end hybrid, the 2010 HS 250h. Despite some disappointment with the car’s performance, this is one driver whose very name explains how he feels about his purchase. Read the full review of the 2010 Lexus HS 250h, and then write a review of your own vehicle here.

“I have had my two previous luxury cars for 10 years apiece, so when I wanted to get a new car, I was mainly interested in a luxury car that provided better mileage. The HS 250h is a great choice for that but clearly is not as luxurious, quiet or performance-oriented as my previous car. As long as you understand that this is a car with a smaller wheelbase and is a less performance-oriented car, then your experience with the HS 250h will be great.

“I have had the car for about two weeks. The car with the color I wanted was only available in the Premium model with the Technology Package. The mileage has been better than expected. I have been averaging slightly better than the EPA reported mileage so far in a mix of highway and city driving. It uses regular gas, which is nice.

“The Technology Package has lots of bells and whistles — more than I think I really need — but it will be fun to play with when I get all the features figured out.

“Even though this is a smaller car than I am used to, I feel safe with the safety features included. It can seat five passengers, but the rear seat with three adults is tight. Some might object to the pricing, but you are paying for the "Lexus" name as well as the "green" factor.

“Overall, this car is what I expected, and I’m happy with my purchase.”

just don't see many people spending 35,000 for what most perceive as a "fancy Corolla"

Paola

Isn't this based on the UK Avensis / JDM Allion?

sure is...bigger than a US Corolla...smaller than US Camry...
