More Details on the 2010 Suzuki Kizashi
Suzuki’s all-new Kizashi midsize sedan is one of the most interesting sedans we’ve seen from the small car and SUV automaker. With its winter release date fast approaching, Suzuki announced today more detailed engine, gas mileage and trim level information as well as a rough idea on pricing.
Aimed to start under the $20,000 mark, the Kizashi comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine as its only offering. The four-cylinder makes 185 horsepower with the manual transmission and 180 hp with an available continuously variable automatic transmission. A V-6 is being considered; if it’s added to the lineup, it would likely be another year before it hits the market.
All-wheel drive is an option — only on CVT models — and Suzuki says even with the feature the Kizashi will be priced in the $22,000-$24,000 range. On paper, the Kizashi looks to be a close competitor to the 2010 Subaru Legacy.
The Kizashi’s gas mileage in its best configuration will reach 23/31 mpg city/highway with the available CVT, front-wheel drive and 16-inch wheels. The Legacy’s best gas mileage is also 23/31 mpg, but the Subaru manages that rating with standard all-wheel drive. You can see a full breakdown of the Suzuki’s gas mileage below.
Digging into trim levels, the Kizashi will come in S, SE, GTS and SLS trim levels. Standard features include push-button start, electronic stability system, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, automatic climate control and dual exhaust tips. Stepping up to more expensive trim levels adds features like 17- and 18-inch wheels, leather interior, upgraded stereo, automatic wipers and parking sensors.

Why do you guys have such a bias for Subaru? do you like them or do they pay you? (it seems that everything you ever compare to is Subaru, and never have a bad Subaru review)
Considering Subaru has one of the best lineups in the industry right now, as well as the fact that more and more manufacturers are offering AWD on their vehicles, it simply begs comparison.
JJ, any AWD midsize sedan is competing against the Legacy.
JJ,
Brady has it right there, we could compare it to the AWD Fusions but that comes in V6 only. Not many AWD sedans period around $20K. This is right in line with the Subaru. If you can think of others let us know.
Thanks!
Now if only Suzuki can work on its residual value of its vehicles...
I was next door to a Suzuki dealership recently, and walked over there while they were finishing up paperwork for my car. There were still brand new '07s on the lot! I didn't know Suzuki sold enough cars for people to even consider this thing.
Q,
they discontinued a lot of models over the past few years waiting to revamp their lineup. Probably why you saw older new models.
I think Suzuki gets such a bad rap. I bought my son an Areo and it was a great little car, never had any problems with it and just sold it and did really well!
I am on my second Suzuki. I tried an Aerio AWD because I lived at 9000ft and needed AWD. The car was great. I now have an SX4 AWD. This car is even better. The problems Suzuki had, both real and imagined, were due to a bad decision to sell Korean cars at the bottom of their line up. Now that that little problem has been addressed, you would be cheating yourself to not shop them next time you need a car.

This car is almost something I would considering buying. Which is amazing that it is a suzuki. They are an almost invisible car company. Mostly know for their sport bikes. If they put this kind of driving personality into a small cuv and a larg cuv I would be all over it
The base four cylinder front wheel drive with the manual tranny is the way to go. Very sporty car and Suzuki makes great motors. Real men don't need all wheel drive.
RL.
Do you guys know if the 2.4l 4cyl. eng is the same as GM's Equinox or Terrain?
And is it a direct injection?
Suzuki is not serious about coming out of a coma. Why else would it give this car a name that sounds like dirty words? If they want to sell it to Americans, they should give it a name that we can at least pronounce. The name alone is enough to keep me away. Suzuki is irrelevant and should stick to two-wheel business, which it's doing a better job. In the car business, it should just go to the grave forever, like Dae Woo did.
Just a note on Subaru: Between my wife and I, we have owned an 2001 Outback wagon, a 2001 Legacy sedan, and I currently own a 2005 Forester. Two out of the three have had head gasket problems. One was covered under warranty and the Forester was not (but they fixed for free anyway after telling them I'd never buy another!). Generally dependable, but the head gasket problems persist...
to BJ ..
Kizashi sounds like dirty words? Maybe you should get your mind straight.
This car seems to have real power and performance. A little low on the mileage but this is Suzuki's higher end car so that make sense.
I drive a Grand Vitara 07. Great SUV. Lower mileage than CRV or Rav4 but the power and handling on the GV is much better. I say this just because I've driven a CRV before but not a Rav4 ... and Rav4 looks like a toy really.
Go to a dealer and try one of their GVs. I am glad I didn't go for an RDX also just because for the price. I paid a lot less for my GV and other than not having a Navigation I am perfectly happy + I just got a GPS unit for $150.
Suzuki needs to step up their engines like GM did last few years with their Chevy lineup. Better mileage is very important to the economy of today.
