The four cylinder Equinox is a better auto than this GM rebadge job however since it's underpowered I would go with a Subaru instead. Who does GM think they are fooling?

cody

rebadging is what ford does between ford, mercury, and lincoln. this is platform sharing, similar to how hyundai and kia share platforms but very little in the styling department.

if this is underpowered (182hp/174lb-ft) why would you go with the 170hp/170lb-ft forester?

while i like the equinox styling more than the terrain, it is growing on me. while it doesn't look as good as a forester or cx-7 imo, i certainly don't think it looks any worse than an escape, cr-v, rogue, or rav-4.

Um... I think a mistake was made it seems you matched the v-6 gas mileage with the 4 cyl horse power isnt it suppose to look like this:

182 horse power
22/32 mpg

264 horsepower
17/25

Uhg I cannot believe they wasted such a good front end design on this junk. It should have been used on the Yukon. All crossovers in my opinion are junk. Especially these rebadged ones that think they are new models. SUV's are supposed to be RWD or 4WD. Not this car based FWD or AWD junk that is 80% bias to the front wheels and 20% to the rear.

George

I don't know where you are getting 80/20 bias.
The '""awd""' is mechanically front drive, with a computer controlled clutch to power the rear axle. It stays front axle drive as much as it can.

The V6 is slow & gets poor mileage because the gearing is WAY too tall.
See if 3rd gear takes you past 100mph?

Nic

The 80/20 bias does not apply to this car. But only an example of how some AWD cars work. I know most AWD's are FWD only until they lose traction and only then will they send power to the rear.

Shorebreak

It looks like both the Terrain and Equinox have a long way to go in beating the Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot. Go drive them all and see how quietness, body integrity, and comfort compare. There might be an initial price advantage but resale value three years down the line will tell the tale.

cody

why would you compare this or the equinox to a highlander/pilot? those are much larger and more expensive cross-overs. however, if you want to compare it to a pilot, my girlfriend's 07 pilot consistently returns 15mpg. might as well have gotten a yukon with a v8.

Shorebreak, those are 7-passenger crossovers, not compact SUVs. GM didn't target them, and most people wouldn't compare them on any fronts.
