2010 Toyota 4Runner Pricing Announced
Besides announcing the 2010 Venza’s USB upgrade, Toyota also announced pricing on the redesigned 2010 4Runner SUV that goes on sale in late October or early November. For the first time, the 4Runner’s base model will feature a four-cylinder engine; it starts at $27,500 before an $800 destination charge.
Overall, prices remain in line with the previous generation even though the SUV has been completely redesigned and adds more standard equipment.
V-6 models will be available this fall while the SR5 four-cylinder won’t go on sale until early January 2010. Full pricing can be found below.

Only a sucker would pay those kinds of prices for a compact 4 runner. There is only $760 seperating the cost of the SR5 2WD from the SR5 4WD. But they ding you $2,000 to get the 4WD on the Limited - anyone who buys the Limited is a sucker. 40 large for a 4Runner is redickulous. Just buy a year old Land Cruiser for 40,000 and get a real truck.
"For the first time, the 4Runner's base model will feature a four-cylinder engine;.."
Not true. The first generation 4Runners had a four cylinder option, as did Jeep, Chevy, Ford, Isuzu and many other SUVs from the 80s.
Where's the "you lie" guy when you need him?
In fact, they offered a four cylinder 4Runner until the 2001 model year when they went to the standard V6. In other words, for most of the 4Runner's history they offered a four cylinder. Dave you better clean up the post.
That is expensive they should at least charge 25,000 for the 4 cylinder model, almost 30 k for that i can get a Hyundai Veracruz that seats 7 for only a $1,000 more plus it has a V6.
FC,
you are right, the four cylinder four runner is nothing more than their cheapest 2 wheel drive Tacoma pickup with the SUV body. Is that worth an extra $12,000. No way.
The original 4 runner was nothing more than a Hilux with a fiberglass extended roof.Yet it sold like hotcakes.I guess some people will buy a Toyota no matter what,as long as it says "Toyota" on it somewhere.Thats a lot like "Chevrolet"....they wouldnt sell if they didnt have their die hards who only buy because of the label.
Paul,
yes to some degree, people bought the 4runner because of the Toyota nameplate... but they also bought it because it was dead reliable, light, and fun to drive, basically all the great attributes of the Hilux, but now more relevant to families and those who needed their goods covered. I see those original 4runners on the road today and still stop to look at them because they are classics.
putting a 4-cylinder into the current 4Runner is as bad as putting that V6 in the old LR3. it will be slow, and inefficient for a four cylinder since it has to tow around all that weight. a better idea would be to drop the 4.0L and put the 3.5L in there that develops 1 hp less.
The Limited 4WD is more expensive than the the SR5 because it uses the full time all wheel drive 4WD, while the trail and SR5 have a part time 2WD-4WD drivetrain (it's cheaper).
I didn't know they had different 4wd systems. Thanks for that. Hybrit is right about the error in the story, I found a web site that says the 4 runner had a four cylinder motor from 1984 to 2001. Is anybody going to fix this post?
I appluad Toyota for offering a true BOF ute while the competition has moved towards softer, car-like SUV's. At first I thought the profile was blocky and disjointed but the latest round of pictures has changed my mind. It is a nice evolution form the current model.
As far as the 4 cylinder option, I imagine it will be in limited supply and replaced with a diesel in the future. The V8 is a fantastic engine and will be sorely missed.
In "Cash for Clunkers" Toyota was the winner with the Corolla. It's everyman's car and it is reliable, economical and gets to you there.
The new 4-Runner is just another rich Yuppie-mobile. All snarl and no killer instinct. It's unlikely to be fuel efficient at all.
Just what yuppies showing-off like.
Bring back the old 4Runners of 1996-2007.
Real off road vehicles for real people.
Nice post. 2010 Toyota 4Runner is a based on a Land Cruiser Prado. 4 runner Size is bigger than the prado. The 4Runner body is a kind of construction. In terms of feature its good, there seats are also water proofed. They can carry huge tons of equipment. The performance and look was impressive. The braking was very responsive and the steering was very accurate. 4 runner carry 4762 pounds. Toyota has tormed the market while launches Tundra, the Tacoma. Good Call Zack, where are you getting your prices for the SR5 model in 2wd and 4wd? Where are you getting $740 from?
SR5 V6 4WD: $30,915 minus SR5 V6 2WD: $29,175 = $1740.
Can someone explain the difference between the part time and full time AWD? I used to have a 98 Explorer that had 3 settings...AWD, 4x4 High and 4x4 Low. The AWD drive settings was really just rear wheel and the AWD drive kicked in when you slipped. Will the 2010 4runner SR5 be the same type of thing?
