Volvo Extends Warranty Coverage for June Buyers

VolvoV70 While other automakers resort to large cash-back offers and low financing rates to stimulate sales, Volvo is enhancing its warranty on 2009-model-year vehicles to attract buyers. If purchased in June, your 2009 Volvo will benefit from extended warranty coverage.

Called Safe + Sound, notable enhancements in the deal include the bumping up of Volvo’s complimentary maintenance from three years/36,000 miles to five years/60,000 miles. The basic new-car warranty will be increased from four years/50,000 miles to five years/60,000 miles for cars bought in June.

Safe + Sound Coverage

  • Five years/60,000 miles of New Car Warranty
  • Five years/60,000 miles of Complimentary Factory Scheduled Maintenance
  • Five years/60,000 miles of Wear and Tear Coverage
  • Five years/unlimited miles of Volvo On-Call Roadside Assistance

Wear and Tear replaces common wear items, like brake pads, rotors and wiper blades, for free. BMW and Mini offer similar coverage of wear items, but their warranty terms are shorter: four years/50,000 miles and three years/36,000 miles, respectively. BMW’s and Mini’s warranties, however, will almost certainly still be available on cars bought after June 30.

There aren’t any plans to extend the coverage past June 30, but Volvo spokesman James Hope said that if the Safe + Sound package is successful in stimulating sales, some extended coverage may carry on after June 30.

Not included in this offer is the recently introduced 2010 XC60 luxury compact SUV.
