2010 Pontiac Lineup: The Vibe and Nothing Else, as of Now

Vibe While GM has stated that Pontiac will be around for 2010, the brand apparently won’t have much on sale.

As of now, the only 2010 Pontiac will be the Pontiac Vibe, with a limited run of fleet-only Pontiac G6 sedans. The G6 convertible and coupe are apparently dead for 2010.

According to Pontiac spokesman Jim Hopson, there’s no final decision yet on the G3, G5 or G8. Production of the Solstice will end next month, and the Torrent has already been discontinued.

Throughout its history, Pontiac has typically had a generous and diverse lineup of “sporty” sedans, coupes, convertibles and family-haulers. It was that big lineup that helped make Pontiac GM’s third-best-selling brand in 2008, behind Chevrolet and GMC.

We’ll keep you posted on GM’s plans for Pontiac during its final model year.

ironic...the last one will be basically a Toyota!!

d

wuz it really worth bringing the G3 to the USA???

Just taking a shot in the dark here, but maybe the reason they're still manufacturing the Vibe is contractual, since it was conceived and produced in conjunction with Toyota?

If Pontiac was the 3rd best selling brand, why didn't GM decide to kill Buick or Cadillac? Money is in the numbers...

Paul

I'm sure they didnt kill off Buick or Cadillac because the markup on those brands is higher than Pontiac.Could you seriously charge $60,000 for any Pontiac? No,but a Cadillac can demand that (only due to people's foggy perception of value).

Strange thing is,

the G8 is Pontiac's only really desirable car.

(Though, I will also admit that the G6 coupe is very nice looking.)

Yet it sounds like those two cars are going to be among the first to go.

JM

they should keep the G8 around as well. it was supposed to get the 304 hp 3.6L direct injection V6 from the CTS for the 2010 model year, and that engine could really have made the bank for Pontiac.

RAS

GM should have killed off Pontiac 20 years ago as they really have no difference from a Chevorlet. The G8 could also have been ( and should be) marketed in North America as a Buick GNX giving them a high performance car.
