2009 Smart ForTwo Passion Video
It’s not often that a reviewer completely pans a particular vehicle. Usually we can find something redeeming to talk about, but for Cars.com’s Joe Wiesenfelder, that wasn’t the case with the 2009 Smart ForTwo. Watch his video review of the only U.S. microcar to find out why he not only cannot recommend the ForTwo for any car buyer, but also why it frightened him.

I'm also surprised at the MPG. One would expect much better numbers from such a small car.
This sure makes my '07 Kia Spectra (I've gotten 35 regularly) seem like a good choice.
I've taken the Spectra to CA (1000mi round trip) and sincerely doubt that I would EVER want to drive the 4-2 through Nevada on I80!!
We own a 2008 Smart and have almost 20,000 miles on it. It has taken a couple long trips (2000+ miles each) and my wife drives it to work - almost 80 miles per day round trip. We have not had problems with drivers of larger vehicles and once you put a few miles on a Smart you will learn how to make it move just fine. I use the manual mode on the transmission when I need extra speed and acceleration. Most Smart owners I have spoken with about this car would disagree with this reviewers conclusions.
