Reader Review of the Week: 2009 Acura RDX
LoveCars68 from Media, Penn., bought a new 2009 RDX that immediately went into direct competition with his last car, a Volkswagen Jetta. To find out which vehicle wins out, check out the full reader review of the ’09 RDX. Then, if you have something to say about your vehicle, visit the Reader Review homepage here.
“I think you have to take every review with a grain of salt, but the ride is fine, very comfortable and smooth. My car prior to this was a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta, and the RDX has a much smoother ride. Our other car is an '05 TL, so for us it feels like driving the TL but a little higher off the ground. My friends that have driven with me have even commented on the smooth ride, so I guess it's all perspective.
“I feel like we got a great deal on the RDX, and with all the standard features, it is a great value. I knew the gas mileage wasn't going to be great going in, so I am not going to complain about it. I basically do chores around town and average 18.5 mpg, which isn't too bad considering it says 17 mpg in the city. I love my RDX. We are also a couple that does not have any kids, so we just wanted a little more cargo room than the Jetta to pick up mulch for the garden and the AWD since we live on a hill. For us, it is the perfect vehicle.”

17 mpg for a small SUV? That is ridiculous. I think Honda is the best car company out there, but driving this vehicle is environmentally irresponsible. And I can't believe Honda has done so poorly with the fuel economy on this.
Mike,
It's a 240 HP turbo charged 4 cyl SUV that weighs 4000 lbs. How many MPG should it get in town?
If it weighs that much, and gets that mileage- exactly what is the advantage of this over a slightly bigger, more useful suv (like a pilot, edge, murano)- or an awd wagon? I would have a really hard time choosing this over a loaded CR-V. Especially since the acuras that I have driven (TL, TSX) weren't all that quieter or more luxurious than loaded Accords I have been in, and this thing is butt ugly, plus the Acura "A" doesn't carry much prestige.
To each his own. I am glad they like it- that color is very nice.
