Closing Chrysler Dealers Will Make Deals
When Chrysler announced last week it would cancel franchise ties with 789 dealers, the company said it would coordinate the transfer of unsold inventory to its healthy dealerships. In today's USA Today, some of the closing dealers say they haven't received any help from Chrysler to offload unsold cars, trucks and SUVs.
A Dodge dealer in Winberg, Pa., said "Want to buy one? We're having a fire sale." A Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep dealer in Malvern, Ark., said "it's not a matter of 'if.' We will sell them all." These closing dealers will not be able to sell new Chrysler products past June 9.
An analyst from Consumer Reports suggested going to a dealer with a lowball price.
We suggest car shoppers do their due diligence. First, obviously, check out the full list of closing dealers here.
Next, check the latest incentives on consumer sites for Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep, as offers vary depending on your zip code and end June 1. You should also check Cars.com's incentives page for other incentives, and our Research section for a car’s five-year cost of ownership and its Smart Target Price.
You can search Cars.com for the dealer's current inventory, then contact as many local dealers as you can over the internet to get quotes via email, as well as to make sure the car you're interested in is still in stock.

Any news on GM dealers making deals?
It'll be interesting to see what happens with the rebates at dealers being dumped by Chrysler.
Most buyers just assign the rebate to the dealer. Will the dealer, who's just gotten a giant F--K YOU from Chrysler, being willing to take the risk of getting his money from Chrysler? Would he trust them? If I were such a dealer I wouldn't.
Would the buyer be willing to risk getting the rebate check from the bankrupt company? I know that I would not.
This will do wonders for the resale/trade value of Chrysler products. The dealers being closed are stuck with parts also. Needless to say, this whole restructuring has been bad for the dealers, workers, customers, and towns where the dealerships will be closed. This will trickle down, as well, to other businesses that depend on these dealers. Some places will take a double whammy, where both Chrysler and GM dealerships close.
So far, searching online at a local dealer's website, there seems to be a no-budge attitude. Nothing marked down from MSRP at all, and they're one of the ones closing.
what's the name of the dealer closing here in Phoenix. Maybe they'll have a blow out sale for Memorial Day.
A closing dealer in my area was selling most vehicles about 8-10K below list. He has PT Cruisers below 10K and minivans at 13k. I think he's giving the ole F*** You to Chrysler. He'll probably take the huge loss then file bankruptcy.
thanks for the feedback Ziggy and Billy4202
No wonder that local Dodge dealer's closing - found another one that's .45 miles away on the same street. Granted, the other one's a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealer, but wow, that's redundancy if I ever heard of it.
Just bought a used Focus from one of the closing Chrysler dealers. KBB price was $9,800, advertised newspaper price was $8995, and when I checked online, the internet sales dept. had the car for $7,777.
It was dead quiet there on a Saturday and they were obviously not selling any cars at all. I gave them an outrageous offer, $6500, and they took it without a flinch or negotiations. They said they just wanted the cars gone and it made me wonder if I could've offered even less. Oh well, it was still a good deal IMO.
So if you're looking for used cars as well, you may have good luck at a Chrysler dealer
Sad, but great deal for you Ryan. Dealer was probably traumatized by close. The company should do what GM is doing and let dealers finish out the year. That way they have time to sell the parts and cars without it being a fire sale.
Can anyone tell me where you got the cars.
I live in CT, but will travel. Wife and I expecting twins...we need a minivan. Can any of you with success on deals say where you bought these cars..
John
Deals are big in Virginia. Try the suburbs or country dealers. I found the city dealers were sticking to their prices but the country dealers are trying to dump all their cars.
Just got a 2007 Aspen with 33k miles for 14k. Edmunds has the retail price at 18-21k. Wasn't looking to buy until next year, but with this deal, I got a bigger, newer SUV and dropped my monthly payment almost $100 a month.
Looking for a minivan too in the tri-state area, will travel, does anyone know which dealerships are cutting their prices?
Thanks in advance...
PS I am calling most dealers in the area and will report back once I get more info
They want around 30K for a fully loaded T&C Limited.. is it a good deal?
I went to a dealer last week, Sales person did not take 1 dime off the MSRP. Told her to call me when she is ready to go lower, I will make an online offer again this week. We have 2 dealers within 10 miles of each other closing. Together they have over 100 Vans. Still time to deal. They ripped us off for years... now it is the buyers turn.
