Mike’s review on the new Genesis Coupe was good. I’m starting to see these more and more on the road. While I’m not ooohing and oowing as if I’ve just seen a Maserati or Lamborghini or something, I do take a second look when I see the GC as this car is distinctively styled and very sporty looking. Mike made some comments against the base 2.0T but to me the base is more of poseurs, those who want a sporty look but are willing to sacrifice HP for better fuel economy and price, or canvas car for the after-market tuner crowd. I see the V6 as the one for enthusiasts and speed demons who want a decent sporty coupe for little coin. As far as the inconsistent quality of the materials. Two things:
1: seems now-a-days that same thing can be said of many of the newer cars (hard plastic seems to be the in vogue for manufacturers. I admit it even newer Toyotas have more hard cheap plastic than Toyotas of yore.)
2: To get such a sporty car at the GC’s price low point Hyundai would had to have cheaped out somewhere. At least the lower part of the dash and not the whole dash as is the case in some cars.

To be clear, am in no way justifying the use of cheap materials nor am thrashing Mike’ review. But being that we are not talking about a luxury car but Hyundai’s first real effort at a sports coupe (sorry to you Tiburon fans) they’ve done a pretty good job. I say “Watch out Honda Toyota, Nissan and Mazda. Or Hyundai will soon be eating you lunch.”

My neighbor just rolled up in one. I'll have to test drive this car.
