Cadillac Named Top Brand in National Survey

09Escalade Cadillac ranked as the brand with the highest customer satisfaction among new-car owners in the 13th annual Vehicle Satisfaction Awards from consulting firm AutoPacific. This is Cadillac’s second straight year winning the top honor.

AutoPacific says it looks at 48 categories to “objectively measure” ownership experience (“ownership experience” seems like a highly subjective thing, but we’ll let that slide). Its survey included more than 25,000 owners or lessees of new, 2009 vehicles. The firm does not disclose which automakers it has as clients.

Cadillac, which has been rated in at least the top five overall brands in all 13 of the firm’s surveys, also won the Luxury Sport Utility segment, with the Cadillac Escalade. The Lexus LS won the award for highest satisfaction overall for a vehicle, while Hyundai took the Rising Star Honors for its 11-position jump in customer satisfaction.

Brands with multiple winners include Toyota with six, Ford with four, Hyundai with three, and Chrysler and GM with two each.

the Sonata is a "Premium Mid-Size"?! What's an "Image Compact"???? What's a "Crossover SUV" -- a Crossover or SUV??? SUV stands for "Sport Utility Vehicle," so why is there a separate "Sport Utility" designation? Who are the jokers who came up with these categories? This is the beauty of statistics -- if you group them "correctly," you WILL come up with the result you want.

DL

and how is the Venza "Premium" while the Tiguan not?

Tony

Total BS. Don't read

H

I like to make my own judgments but I'm curious as why you think this study is BS.

"Aspirational Luxury Car"

-Well, gosh darn it, I wanna buy that Genesis but I just can't afford it. One day, I wanna buy it when I grow up.

"Image Compact Car"

-...

"Sporty Car"

"Compact Pickup"

-a SportTrac? Really now?

"Premium Midsize Sport Utility"

-Explorer...wow...

Oh, and the last thing? 25,000 responders for an "objective"ly based study doesn't cut it.

This is so pathetic it's laughable!

YOING

Not surprising. My grandpop and all his friends in the retirement home drive Cadillacs. The old people seem to love em more than they do their Buicks! And the Escalade is the premiere choice amongst the gangtas and rappers. Cadillac has found success as long as old people continue to drive and rap artists continue to make albums.

ermatthe

yeah, cuz I'm sure "gangstas and rappers" made up a significant portion of the 25,000 people surveyed.

People that buy Cadillacs like them (for good reason). It's always been that way.

Nice to see stereotypes are alive and well in the 21st century though. Thanks.

perfect for family use..

Cadillac is making great cars. What, you don't believe the study? Get off the sidelines and go take a test drive. I recommend the CTS 3.6DI. Spend an hour in the driver seat Saturday morning and you will be smiling all weekend.

Tony

Because H,
look at the names of the categories.

Image compact Car = Prius.
What image? The only image it has is the image of the gas prices.

Aspirational Luxury Car... ??? What is it? If such car exists then may be Acura TSX would fit in it. Because this is a pretender. But Genesis IS a luxo car.

Premium Mid-Size Car - Hyundai Sonata. So, Sonata now is in BMW 5xx territory? I didn't know that.

Economy Car - Honda Fit. Did they see the sticker price on it? Unless they would call the category subcompact... Economy car is Hyundai Excel

Premium Mid-Size Sport - Utility Ford Explorer, huh? I thought, that would be Mercury...

Compact Crossover SUV - Kia Sportage! I know this one! This is the ONLY Compact Crossover SUV thats still running over there.

OK. After all, they got this one right: Minivan = Toyota Sienna
