'Today Show' Test Drives GM's Segway

Todayshow1

We just brought you the first word of GM’s new two-seat Segway prototype, the PUMA. However, the “Today Show” scooped everyone with a first drive of the vehicle earlier this morning.

Matt Lauer talks up a GM executive while Meredith Viera does her best to not get sick as she’s driven about in the nimble PUMA.

Some tidbits we learned from the segment — video below — is that this is a true prototype, and they might build in more safety features and make an enclosed version for winter weather.

i weep for the future!
having my own software company for 29 years -
i wish the feds would buy me out so i could spend a lot of money developing nothing.

skinner

I spent some time in Manhattan some years ago and had no trouble getting around town, top to bottom. It was caled... walking.

there's a new concept in the automotive business
it's 2 seated, 2 wheeled, and too ambitious
General Motors fearing their time is over
is desperate to meet their innovation quota

partnered with Segway trying to make headway
came up with something just a little more deadly
works like the other one except that you sit
and ride around praying that you don't get hit
