Cars.com Reviews the 2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring
Cars.com reviewer Joe Wiesenfelder does everyone a favor in his review of the 2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring, which is to explain just what the word “touring” means when attached to a car model. Turns out, the answer varies (which means no one really knows). In this case, however, the Touring is a four-door hatchback version of the Elantra. Check out Wiesenfelder’s full review to find out if Hyundai scores a hit with the Elantra Touring.

The sedan's IIHS side impact score is really meaningless for this car because this car doesn't share structure, as the IIHS likes to say, with the sedan. This car is really is an i30 CW with an Elantra badge. In the Euro NCAP test, which include both a side sled and a pole test, the i30 got Good for everything except lower torso, which got an Acceptable. The car's near twin, the Kia c'eed, got all good. So it looks like, at least, that the Elantra Touring likely has a stronger side body structure than the sedan. But of course we don't know what changes were made in bringing the car across the pond until it's actually crashed.
