2010 Subaru Legacy Video

Kelsey Mays checks out the 2010 Subaru Legacy at the New York auto show and shows how much utility Subaru packaged into its new midsize sedan. While the controversial styling will surely be love-it or hate-it, Kelsey finds a lot of improvements on the inside versus the previous-generation Legacy.

I really like being able to get a video walkthrough of the new models at the car shows, and Kelsey definitely does a good job of presenting the car. But I can't hardly stand to watch the video because you're shooting interlaced video and not using an adaptive deinterlacing filter before exporting the video to the web. This makes anything with fast motion appear very wavy and smeary. I'd bet a lot of people notice it, especially when Kelsey moves his hand around quickly to point out something important. Your postproduction software should be able to do a better job of fixing up the video before uploading it given the right settings - or maybe an upgrade to a new digital camera is in order. :-)

Keep up the good work!

By the way, I only see the problem on the HD video. The regular version looks fine.

Did Kelsey lose height? He said that he's 5'11" instead of his standard "I'm about six feet tall."

I think most people would call 5'1" "about" 6' tall.

the videos are nice. I am glad KM acknowledged that recent GM/Ford interiors are near the top of the class, not the bottom. The camry is hardly the interior benchmark of the midsize class these days. In fact, it's near the bottom of the pack. I still have yet to figure out what is so great about the button crazy Accord interior since it has a soft upper dash and hard lower dash like virtually every car in this class.

Gm = good quality??? Really? Really!!!??? Agreed Ford has made improvements but to say "top of class" or even "on par" is quite generous.

How about Ford is at "industry average" and GM "getting better but still below average". Sometimes we are so passionate about our dysfunctional automakers that we fail to recognize their performance. In GM's case it is "less than".

Subaru is below the "Toynda" fit and finish but exceeds as a drivers' car. The turbo'd models by Subaru are just plain fun which is something completely void in this segment (except for the germans).

JohnG:

Interiors of the CTS, Malibu, Tahoe/Silverado, Vue and Enclave are near the best in class. The average new GM interior looks and feels better than recent Honda interiors. Compare the Pilot to the Acadia or Traverse for reference. Ford's interiors of late are very nice. The Flex blows away the Pilot in interior design and feel. I couldn't find a soft touch panel anywhere in the Pilot. If you know of vehicles that exceed the Flex, 2010 Fusion, Mustang or F150 in their respective classes let me know. You surely won't find anything better at your local Toyota dealer.
