2010 Land Rover LR4 Video

Cars.com’s Suburban Dad, Patrick Olsen, takes a look at the 2010 Land Rover LR4 in this video review from the 2009 New York auto show. Does the LR4 step in for the LR3 in a fitting fashion? Olsen has mixed feelings due to a very involved third-row setup, but perhaps the LR4 will impress him in other ways. Watch the video to make up your own mind.

I've always been a Land/Range Rover fan despite their questionable reliability and I must say that I really like the LR4. The 3rd row seating configuration is a non-issue to me since I'm not a "rural" dad. It would permanetely stay in the folded flat position in my household to haul around photo and fishing gear and the occasional trips to Kroger and Home Depot. I do understand how this could be an issue in households with children or DINKS or SINKS who regularly haul around friends or family. With that said, I'll probably considerer picking one up pre-owned with low mileage in about 2-3 years.

Is the seating configuration that challenging? My LR3s are exactly the same and I can change them in a matter of seconds... Lose some weight and the chore is much easier "rural" dad. I guess you want the GM power folding rear-seats... my guess is you would never take the LR4 off pavement anyway... why bother

Not that many changes really from the previous model. I think the grill is much improved, looks great!

All I can say is that my wife owns a 2006 LR3 and we both are very happy with it. No CONS. I look at the LR4 and even more impressed when compared with other SUVs in this price range. We'll probably have an LR3 and LR4 in the garage before the end of the year.

Yes I agree. The grill looks better now with the new model. And it's a really nice SUV.

Hi all-I just got the LR4 a few days ago. Very impressive vehicle. I have never been in the LR3, but I despite what the guy that did this review says the changes are numerous. I would suggest reading the reviews on the car magazine websites. What he mentions in a kind of "almost forgot" way is actually the most important change; the new engine. It now has 375 hp and 375 foot lbs of torque. That makes it just about as fast as the 2009 Ranger Rover Sport Superchanged. Not that speed is really what this truck is about though. Yes, it does have a new suspension and the ride is very nice. The interior is more than just slightly tweaked. The only thing remaining from the LR3 dash is the circular vents. The 3rd row seats are a snap regardless of what suburban dad says. Haven't done any off-roading as of yet (besides for the rock course in front of the dealership of course). I got the Alaska White with Almond interior. Never wanted a white car before but it looks great on this truck. Since it's so new finding them can be tough. 2 sold while I was looking at them at one dealership. If you order one it will take 12 weeks to get! All-in-all just a great truck. Couldn't be more happy.

Has anyone had a problem initializing day running lights and front led lights on the 2010 LR4?

Curt

Stay clear. Had my LR4 since August. Nothing but problems. Electrical system is a 'ghost in the machine'. Land Rover cant even duplicate sometimes. It's really a shame because I really like what they did for 2010....the interior, horsepower, etc. I'm going to start a blog on it in a couple weeks. Ive owned dozens of cars in my life and this is by far the worst thing i've ever had. Save youself the headache. Buy and Audi...or something.

Wow Curt -
I have had my lr4 since Oct and love it and I am hopeful that I don't have the same issues.
I have just had a "ghost" thing happen...
1. I suddenly lose all sound (radio, voice from nav,and no call voice from phone system)
2. My transmission light comes on, then goes off, comes on, then goes off - error says it's a transmission Fault.
Has this happened to anybody else out there?
I have taken it in to my dealership but they say bring it in while it's on - which is next to impossible since I'm all over the city and not conveniently in their neighbourhood when it happens. Very frustrating!

I have never been more confused, First I was going to buy a New 2010 LR4 when my salesman just stopped negotiating a price? Like I was going to take any price he spit out, then I decided to read and read what were the problem years and try to find a good low mileage LR3 and this is where I am at now. I wish I new how to get a good one! Suggestions anyone? Owners seem to love the car or really hate the car. Help!

DISAPPOINTED IN THE LR4

Had LR4 since march 2011. may fuel gauge and parking brake indicators failed. reset computer by dealer. Had intermittent full outage of entertainment/nav/sound. fuel gauge and pk brake out again in nov. Vehicle in shop now 40 days had to replace entire wiring harness. I will never have another LR. LR CRC NOT HELPFUL.
