Through Ian's Lens: 2009 Infiniti M35x

M35xtil
Of all the luxury car manufacturers out there (exotics excluded), Infiniti would get my vote for classiest and cleanest interior design. Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi would all place a close second to the sleek and elegant dashboards, smooth leather upholstery, curved center stack and ergonomically correct backseats of any of Infiniti’s models.

Case in point: the 2009 Infiniti M35x four-door sedan. A great mix of matte-finished dark wood grain and chrome trim highlight the elegance of Infiniti’s dashboard. The buttons are sleek and functional, while an analog clock sits gently in the middle as a design nod to cars of yesteryear. The cabin’s classiness is overshadowed only by its functionality. And remember, this car hasn’t had a radical update in a few years.

Great pics man! I know you've answered this before but what is your setup? I'm an amateur in search of new gear.

GR,
What problems are you having with flickr? You could also just go to the flickr gallery directly.

i dont know if Infiniti's quality is the same as MB or BMW, definitely not Audi though. Audi is much better. there are some big gaps around the glove box and some misaligned panels that you can see from the pictures. it is a very classy interior and is attractive, but Audi's fit and finish is much better.

that isnt even taking into account the cheap door controls or the lower-rent looking center console...Infinitis are less expensive than their German counterparts and have awesome base engines when compared to the base engines of other automakers, but it shows in the interior in "secondary" places.

Hkuraly beautiful car

I work for a valet company and have driven every car out there except the Bentley Turbo R. In my experience the interior quality of the Infiniti M is better than both the Audi A4 and A6 and has been each year for the past two years.

I drive an A6 and my wife has the M from Infiniti. Although I like my car more overall I do concede that the interior of the Infiniti has a higher quality and a better lay out. Given that I agree w/ the poster Kyle.

I have an M35. My previous car was an A6. The A6 had a more elegant interior but like the rest of the car, it was not well built. Surfaces on the A6 started to wear out almost immediately. Electrical faults were standard fare. The M35 is rock solid, better to drive, and COMPLETELY reliable. My wife's BMW 5 Series was worse than the A6. Multiple trips to the dealer to fix annoying electrical issues in the first 3k miles.

Hey Adrian,
Sorry about the slow response to your question.
I shoot with a Canon 5D body and with a Canon F2.8L 24-70mm lens. For what I do, this is the perfect set-up. Thanks for checking in!

Hey Ian,
No problem man. Thanks for the info and keep the pics coming!

Infiniti M is for Misery. My M35 Bluetooth would not synch with an AT&T 8525. At first Nissan refused to fix it even though it froze my entire console. They said it wasn't on their list of phones. But Bluetooth is a trademark a company can ONLY use if its devices are interoperable with other tested devices. Failure to do this is a violation of the trademark agreement. Finally Nissan relented and after FOUR tries finally fixed the problem. More recently the A/C Condenser was struck by a stone. The car was under warranty but they refused to cover this. Damage by stone chips is one of their exclusions. Understandable for paint damage but if you design a grill only for air flow and not to protect the radiator and condenser that is a design defect. Could it have been deliberate? A way to make sure they make money on replacement condensers and radiators? And their voice recognition, for simple telephone numbers may be the worst in the world. So, on the face of it, the M35 may look like a nice car and be fun to drive but God forbid you have to deal with Nissan for warranty repairs. Of the Japanese car manaufacturers they are, no doubt, the worst to deal with. Buy at your own rsik!
