Recall Alert: 39,711 Mitsubishi Lancers and Outlanders
Mitsubishi has issued a recall of 39,711 Lancers and Outlanders from the 2008-09 model years due to a faulty brake-booster check valve, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The brake-booster check valve was built with poor material composition, leaving it vulnerable to sticking when the engine is shut off, NHTSA said. This, in turn, may lead to loss of responsiveness in the brakes and increased stopping distance during slower vehicle maneuvers.
Dealers will replace the valve free of charge. Owners can contact Mitsubishi at 800-222-0037 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236.

"built with poor material composition"
Tell me something I don't know. All Mitsubishi's are made like this.
I have a Mit Lancer 2008 purchased last year (location=Philippines). Does this model has faulty brake-booster check valve too? Will the dealer replace this for free? Also, just today I went to the dealer to report an unusual sound. I suspected an out-of-balance tires and I have it balanced yesterday but still the the sound is there. The dealer said that's the usual problem for Lancers using 'Goodyear Eagle NCT5' tires (195/60R15 88v). Is this true? They recommended other type/brand of tire. Why retain same brand of tire for this model?
