New Acura ZDX to debut at N.Y. Auto Show

Zdx

As the date of the New York auto show approaches, we’re getting a better idea of what to expect in terms of new-vehicle unveils. Over at the Acura booth, the automaker will unveil a prototype of a production-intended vehicle named the ZDX.

The ZDX is a luxury four-door crossover. Judging from the shadowy teaser pics, it will have a fastback silhouette and trapezoidal wraparound taillamps. Assuming the production vehicle holds the same shape — and Honda products usually do — Acura could position the ZDX as an X6 competitor.

The production ZDX will arrive at dealerships this fall. For additional information, stay tuned for the unveiling April 8. If you’ve got an opinion about the name “ZDX” or whether there’s even a need for an X6 competitor, please comment below.

I would love to be able to have an affordable, more reliable, X6. I look at the X6 and the ZDX as the next level of cross-overs. I've owned an FX but it has too many short-comings in terms of carrying capacity. The fact that it will be made by Acura makes it even more attractive.

Tom Kane,
I've tested the X6, I don't think it has much of an advantage over the FX in terms of cargo and carrying, especially giving up the fifth seat, rear middle spot.
I'd assume Acura would not make the same mistake.
Either way I don't think they would be significantly better than the new FX in terms of cargo.

ZDX? Zitty Ex? Who is naming these vehicles? When will the madness stop? Acura is in full on retreat from the glory names of the past: Legend, Vigor, Integra, etc. Adding more insult is that "DX" used to be a low-end trim for a Honda.

When I saw the side profile of this new SUV from Acura few weeks back, I thought of 2010 Nissan Z. Today, they have named it as "Z"DX - what a coincidence. If they come out with another SUV they might probably name it as "G"DX or "F"DX or even "E"DX but in any case they front currently SUX.

Great observation!! I, too, miss the old names. Nowadays, real names would be a differentiator!

Hi, if you want to see how the acura zdx looks like then google-
2010 jdm honda odyssey. You will get a look at what it might look like.
If it is going to compete with the x6, it will be fitted with a v6 or small block v8......B

I have been looking for an suv that drives like a car for so long.. and now I think I found it even though I just got my 4runner a couple of months ago, I might just get this. If only its less expensive then the x6 then you got me and hit me up wit the papers to sign for it. haha. Well Acura you did well it sounds like and if this turns out to be a sweet car then you hit it off wit many people looking for the same thing I am.

THIS IS GOING TO BE A SUCCESFULL VEHICLE WITH A LOW PRICE THAN THE X6.
