2010 Chevy Camaro Interior Gallery

Camarointerior
There has been a lot of discussion in forums and elsewhere about the interior quality of the 2010 Chevy Camaro. While we countdown until our review and video go live today, we’ve posted below an extensive photo gallery shot by Cars.com’s Matt Avery. In the 61 photos there are shots of the SS and base Camaro with both leather, cloth and two-tone versions of both. Check the full gallery below.

the spedometer and tachometer look almost cartoonish rather than precise, otherwise it looks different but nice

Lee

That interior is effing ugly.

Good Lord, you could poke an eye out with that parking brake.

H

Is there a difference between the LS cloth and the LT cloth seats?

GR

The instrument binnacles on these cars are FUGLY! The instruments on the forward center console look like a spot to catch dirt and junk. The interior actually looks better without the secondary gauges. At least this leaves the door open for Chevy to improve the interior the next go round.

The door panels are very clean but it looks like they remembered at the last minute that they had to put a door handle to open it.

Then again, look where they put the switch to lock/unlock the doors ... between the HVAC controls, below the emergency flasher switch. Brilliant ... not!

Go Mustang!

this car seems 2 have alot of Holden influence on the interior..& the new "switchblade" keyfob is very Australian/Euro like... alot of the switchgear is also...

You will see this on more and more GM products that will be sold in right hand drive. The Cruze has the same thing. It saves money in a global car. This is why the G8 has window switches in the center console.

Belly

So apparently GM is consistently making bad choices in the name of saving money...

JM

THe interior looks cheaply made. With the CTS, Malibu, and even the G8, i thought there was a chance that new GM products could have "nicer" interiors with less hard plastic on the dash (the G8 has a soft-touch dashboard, but some panels are loose). obviously i was wrong.

a Hyundai Elantra, a car that costs half as much, has better fit and finish than this.

Who said it was a "bad" choice? You? That doesn't mean much, trust me. There is no law saying you need 2 sets of lock/unlock switches or window switches.

JM,

a) you can't really assess fit and finish from these pics
b)G8 has hard plastics
c) Most sports coupes in this price range have hard plastics. In fact, the 135i has hard plastics.

"Who said it was a "bad" choice? You? That doesn't mean much, trust me."

No super shet, I just figured since you didn't disagree with the previous post, you must have been agreeing with it. And why should anyone trust you? You have to be unbiased for people to trust you.

"There is no law saying you need 2 sets of lock/unlock switches or window switches."

Great point. To think all those other automakers have thought for years they would be breaking the law if they didn't provide 2 sets of switches!

belly:

If I car is not sold in left and right hand drive there is no reason to have center mounted switches. German cars often use symbols on their controls instead of letters so they dont have to change the interiors for international markets. This is also done to save money. It's the same thing.

I have never owned a camaro, my friend had a "77" camaro in high school, although the inst. cluster on the "10" and the "77 look the same, i remember his car as being roomier.
One of the cars in my stable is a 2001 Suzuki Esteem GLX+ sport, odd how the pics of the camaro make the interior look 'smaller', than the interior on my " compact " car.
Maybe the pics need a photo shop touch-up.

tony

Yes ' h ' there is a difference between the LS interior cloth and the LT interior cloth.
Simply put, the the LT cloth is not as cheap as the LS cloth, now while they are both cheap synthetic materials as opposed to high quality synthetic materials, the main difference is the materials construction, weave, texture, mat and fluff.
It is similar to a Dashtopper or a dash mat, one type is sold as a "velour", looks nicer, wears faster and the other is sold as a "cloth" does not look as nice, but lasts much longer

on most modern cars how often do you use the interior door lock button? You put the car in drive, doors lock. You open from inside they unlock. You're really gonna argue about that? And then why do BMWs sell so well?

H

Any exterior photo gallery on the way? I'm interested in seeing real-life photos of the LS with the heritage wheels!

Tony

This interior is one of the ugliest "modern" interiors. Regardles of fit and finish.

H

I have seen pictures of the two-tone interior where the accent color is used on the fabric or leather on the door panels and the horizontal strip that runs across the dash however the pictures in your gallery use black. Was the car photographed a test fleet model that may not have been production-ready? What did the GM reps say about this? Any information on the ambient lighting system that is supposed to be available?

Derek

Tony,

Thanks for the detail on the cloth. Is the LT cloth the one that "lasts much longer".

I am thinking about getting the SS w/cloth, but I am not sure it's it's like the LS or LT cloth. I also haven't heard from anyone if it's very comfortable.

Any thoughts on SS cloth vs leather in terms of both comfort, looks, and longevity?

H

Derek,

Well we have finally received our new 2010 camaro and yes it is not very roomy in the rear seating area but who buys a camaro for a family car anyways? There are some things in the interior that I love and somethings I could have done without. On the passenger side front dash it is a big empty piece of plastic they should have put an emblem or something there to break it up but other than that I found the leather seats to be quite comfortable for a sport car and the ambiant lighting on the door panels is to die for. Of course my husband and I have different opinions on different aspects of the car but for the most part we love the car. I give GM a thumbs up for this car and if you want a large car with smooth riding that you can fit your family of 4 or 5 in then I suggest you go buy a mini van not a sport car.

thanks for the update Cathy. Please submit a reader review on Cars.com!

I have a 2010 Camaro, and while the doors ambient lighting works, I wonder if the same lighting is also supposed to work across the dash? It looks just like the door panels (clear at the top), so I don't know if it is supposed to and mine just doesn't work - or maybe the dash isn't supposed to light up. If anyone knows the answer, please let me know. Thanks!

Chuck

I test drove a 2010 Camaro SS today. I could not believe how poor the interior quality was on this car. It was as if I was bathing in plastic!! Not for me...sorry.
