Cars.com Names 2009 Hyundai Genesis Car of the Year
For our first ever Car of the Year award, the editors of Cars.com have picked the 2009 Hyundai Genesis. Our editors test-drove all the newly introduced and redesigned models for 2009, and from that pool of about 60 cars chose their favorites based on features, driving quality, mileage and overall value.
You can read all about our pick here and we’ll post about the internal debate on how the Genesis took the top prize later on. For now, feel free to let us know what you think in the comments.

Worthy car. Tremendous value.
Just saw a commercial about an hour ago, apparently it's been named NA Car of the Year for '09.
Well deserved Hyundai!
If it can hold the resale value it would be a terrific car.
Good choice. Its a shame C&D and Automobile wouldnt recognize this car because they are concerned with awarding the same brands of car every year. How is this car not more deserving of an awards slot than the Accord or Fit?
Waht is the criteria for the car of the year anyway?
Hyundai is only 3% of the US market.
If you check the numbers. Hyundai is actually seeing a 3 year decline in ‘January’ sales.
Hyundai sold more cars in Jan 2007 then either Jan 2008 or Jan 2009.
Dec 2008 sales were off by 48%.
