Chrysler Employee Pricing Will Go Online Later This Week

Chryslerdeal

Ever since Chrysler announced its new Employee Pricing Plus Plus sale, people have been asking us — and presumably Chrysler — what the employee price on new Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep cars, SUVs and trucks actually is. We have been working hard on trying to get the information, and finally have some word on when it will be made available.

Unfortunately, it will still be a day or two until the consumer websites of each brand publish any information. In that time, the company hopes to get a representative price for each model posted — meaning you’ll be able to see the employee price of a base Chrysler 300, for example, but not the Limited or 300C, along with cash-back amounts and a monthly payment estimate that takes into account the 0% financing offer.

According to Chrysler spokesperson Yvonne Malmgren, pricing information for every 2008 and 2009 make, model and trim level will be live on the consumer sites by the end of the week or this weekend.

Dealers obviously already have all the pricing information and have been selling cars using it since yesterday, when the sale started. Chrysler said it has no way of sharing that information with Cars.com, however.

There is also no set end date to the sale. Malmgren says it should run into February, but stressed that the deal could end at any time, depending on market conditions. It certainly will not end before Monday. Every incentive we’ve covered on KickingTires in the past has had an end date.

The internet is an invaluable research tool for car shoppers, and the majority of prospective buyers has been trained to look online before even contemplating heading to a dealership. With four sales days left in the month, Chrysler better hope shoppers change their habits.

If you go into a Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealership this week, please share what type of discounts you’re being offered in the comments below.

Mr. Capler

This is all nice, but will Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep post these prices online like Ford did with their Employee Pricing campaign? Or will the consumer have to rely on the dealers to be honest, and not try to mark up the price more than it should be? I have contacted several dealers already to inquire on an 2009 Challenger SRT8. I got replies ranging from SRT is not included (BS), to prices ranging from several hundred above invoice to MSRP. I just wish we could replace these liars with more honest people. It looks I will have to call back later this week.

MAB in VA

The Dodge website currently shows the financing incentives do not apply to the Challneger SRT8, so there may be some confusion at the dealers. I'm looking for an R/T Channelnger, and have run across one PA Dodge dealer online this PM offering about a 12.5% discount from MSRP; wish they had the combination that I wanted!

Mr Capler

My brother found an SRT8 Challenger in PA for $39500. About $4100 off MSRP.

Melissa

I am an internet sales manager with a Dodge dealership. This employee pricing is great for everyone. It certainly keeps me busy and the customer gets a great deal. How I normally do employee pricing is to just bring them into my office and pull up the invoice for the vehicle we are working on straight from the manufacturer website and point out what the MSRP is, then the invoice price, then what the EP pricing is. I also go to the current incentives on the website as well and show them what they are eligible for.

99.9% of the time, it is a very good experience and everyone involved is happy. You should be able to smile and have a bit of fun when you are spending alot of money.

I am sorry that there have been so many people out there that have had a bad experience in dealerships. It is not right. I remember being a young mom with 3 children being sold an unsafe minivan. How could the person that sold me that van sleep at night? But I am digressing.

I just wanted to let people know how I do employee pricing and I guess just to let you all know that there are actually car people out there that are honest, love what they do and love helping the people.

Thank you for taking the time out to read my post.

Melissa,
Thanks for the note. I think the problem is you'd get more people in the door if they new how good the deals were ahead of time. And why wouldn't they do what GM does with a Red Tag Sale price on the cars themselves?

Melissa

I can't speak for all dealerships, but I think it is a good idea and will push to do this at my dealership. Heck I will even write the tags out myself. The only glitch that I can see is with the rebates and the 0% financing. It is an either or thing. So do we include the rebate on the tags? What do you think? This stuff is where I think sometimes we look like we are "slippery" when we are just trying to figure out what is best.

Mr. Capler

Melissa, I know there are honest car dealers out there. I just haven't found one in Southern California yet. So what should the EP for a 2009 Challenger SRT8 6 speed, SRT Option Group II, sunroof, and GPS be? MSRP is $45425.
Are you located in Southern California.

Melissa

I am not in Southern California. I just double checked the manufacturer website for you and from what I am reading, SRT8 vehicles are not eligible for employee pricing. On a lighter note, lol it kills me because I have that exact car at my dealership.and that does not happen often! At times I think that maybe some people go on my website and find the one vehicle that I don't have and and then ask for that, lmao. "Melissa's conspiracy theory's on how people can get back at a car salesman" =)

Mr. Capler

Melissa,
Where did you look on the dodge website. The information I am finding on the website is confusing. I have found information on the Employee Pricing Chrysler did late last summer. And that did not include the SRT, Viper, or Sprinter. What I have gathered so far, is that the Sprinter is the only exception on this go around. I have not seen anything that explicitly excludes the SRT. Chrysler needs to make it clear exactly what is included and what is not.

BTW, what color is the one you have on your lot, and how much will you let it go for? If you are not too far from CA, it might be worth the trip.

Cindy

I had been shopping for a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan and the dealer told me that EP is basically 2% under invoice. On a $30K car that equates to a whopping $600 - woopdeedoo. You can pretty much get these cars at invoice all the time.

I have no idea if my saleperson was telling the truth - I guess time will tell when the information is made public. Here is the NorthEast you can get 2.9% for 60 months with the rebates.

Mr.Capler I work on the assmebly line for Chrysler in the Belvidere IL plant I can't even get a discount on the srt-8.Or the Viper or the srt-10 truck. They don't give an employee dicount on certan models

Greg

I am being told employee pricing and 0/2.9% financing are two separate offers (jeep wrangler unlimited). Is this a line of bs?

http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2009/01/22/380527.html
I found this link on the Dodge website. It says EP++ is for ALL Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge vehicles. The only exclusion is the Sprinter. Mr. Belvidere, you may need to go check again. If what I am reading is correct, you can finally afford that Viper you always wanted. Let me know what you hear. There are no other incentives, such as cash back or special financing rates for Vipers or SRTs, but I can live with that. Not everyone needs financing. Especially if you have been saving half your life for that one special ride.

SRT8s and Vipers are part of the employee pricing sale but they do not get a cash back offer I believe. Or the full combination deal. Again, this is the type of disinformation that happens when full incentives aren't posted or provided.

Thanks David T. But why is it that an Internet Sales Manager for a Dodge dealer can't give me the right answer. She mentioned conspiracy theory. I kind of feel the same way, but the conspiracy I am speaking of is the one propagated by the dealer's. Keep the consumers guessing. Do give straight answers, and keep them hostage at the dealership, until they tire and give in. I won't tire and I won't give in. My brother got an SRT8 Challenger for 3% under invoice, and he didn't even have to ask. The General Manager knew, and passed the saving on to him. Unforturenately, that dealer is 2500 miles away. I will keep searching for the truth.

Melissa

Mr. Capler, I would like to extend to you my sincerest apologies. I was misinformed, and in my research, I did not read the right employee pricing rules. I read the previous employee pricing. So thank you for helping me dig down a bit further in my research. Yes, SRT8 challengers are eligible for employee pricing. I made a mistake. I am a human being. I am very embarrased by this mistake. There was no intention of misleading you or anyone else here. And at the end of the day, what would be the point? This is a forum. All I was trying to do was help. I made a mistake and it wound up biting me in the behind. I am sorry if you have been mislead by anyone in the car industry. It does happen and it is a shame it happens far too often. Since you wanted to give advice to me. I would like to offer you some advice from my end. Maybe it will make your next visit a bit nicer. Do treat the sales person the way you would like to be treated and give him/her a chance. If that person is not up to your standards, either ask nicely for the sales manager and explain how you feel or simply leave. Being nasty or abusive will almost never get you the deal. And really, what does it accomplish? You should be able to work with your sales person, and please do not bark your demands at me. How would you feel if someone barked at you?

I wish you luck whith your next visit and thank you again for helping me get to the bottom of the SRT question.

Dave

Melissa, or whoever might know the answer,

Can people who "order" a car get the Employee Pricing? I talked to one person who says he did just that on a Challenger. But my local dealer says no.

I want to order a Challenger, but I don't want to pay thousands more than everyone else?

Melissa, Sorry if I came across like I was being nasty or barking orders to you. I know you were not trying to mislead me. When I said you couldn't give me right answer, the point I wanted to make was that Chrysler is not effectively communicating this incentive program to its dealers. It started Monday, but was not conceived Monday. Chrysler Headquarters had ample time to get the word out to the dealers. It seems that some knew and other didn't, and as a consumer it is frustrating. The part about dealerships holding the customer hostage, may have been out of line, but not far from the true for some sales teams. I experienced this recently at a Honda dealer. I will never go back there again. Personally, I prefer to work with the Fleet/Internet Sales Manager. I bought my Dodge Ram through the local Dodge dealer's fleet manager, and the experience was a 9.5 on a scale of 1-10 - unfortunately he has left the industry. So I do know there are honest hard working people in the auto industry out there, like yourself, I am just having a hard time finding one in Southern California. If you know of a dealer in SoCal that will sell the 2009 Challenger SRT8 at the EP++ price, let me know.
Sincerely,
Mr. Capler

Ok, I spoke with Internet Sales Managers from 3 different dealers. They were all up front an honest, and were able to give me the EP++ pricing for Challenger SRT8s they have on their lots. I am happy now, and some are redeemed. There still is that one out there that told me his dealership was not going to honor the EP++ incentive, and that the car they have MRSP $45230, is still $47790. Good luck you him. BTW, the EP++ price for a car with MSRP $45425, is approximately $41366. I'll be driving mine home tomorrow.

Ryan

I actually visited a dealership today about a 2009 Ram 1500 and the E++ Pricing. The Dodge website has a misleading webpage that shows you can get the E++ pricing and cash incentives along with a low APR(2.9) for 60 months. The dealership informed me it is one or the other. The advertising "monster" has hit again to lure the consumer in, but not deliver. If anyone knows the details on the '09 Rams, I would appreciate the feedback.

Mr. Capler

Ryan, go to www.dodge.com and visit the Build My Own link. Select the Dodge Ram 1500, and configure it. You will see all incentives, and the bottom line price for the vehicle. This is fairly accurate. I found one problem with the Gas Guzzler Tax between the manual and automatic Challenger SRT8s. The manual should be $400 cheaper. Check it out, print it out, and take it to the dealer. Good luck.
