2009 Mazda6 Leads 0% Pack of Midsize Sedans

2009mazda6

If you’re out shopping for a new midsize sedan this weekend and want 0% financing, there will be a lot to choose from. Most current incentives end Monday, including a 0% financing for 36 months offer on the all-new 2009 Mazda6 sedan that Cars.com recently tested. The deal obviously features the standard “for qualified buyers” small type, but it’s still a good deal. If you want a 60-month plan, the rate is 2.9%, which is also quite good.

We figured we’d do our due diligence and check on the competition, to see if Mazda is alone with its deal. Nope; nearly every competitor has a 0% offer going on through the weekend.

  • 2009 Nissan Altima: 0% for 36 months, 4.9% for 60 months
  • 2009 Toyota Camry: 0% for 36 months, 2.9% for 60 months
  • 2009 Hyundai Sonata: 0% for 36 months, 2.9% for 60 months, plus $1000 cash back
  • 2009 Ford Fusion: 0% for 36 months, 5.9% for 60 months, plus $500 cash back
  • 2009 Honda Accord: 1.9% for 36 months, 3.9% for 60 months

You would think the Fusion would be the best deal on this list.

I recently tested most of the cars on this list (Fusion, Malibu, Mazda6, Accord, Altima). I went w/ a V6 Accord as it was a sleeper in terms of power and handling. The Malibu handled great too but the console was made of low quality plastic and that really turned me off. I was really disappointed with the two Altima's that I drove as the build quality was fair at best. The Mazda6 was great but it's just too big and felt sloppy in the handling dept, but it is one great looking car in person. Even though the Accord is big too it just felt smaller (if you know what I mean) and that 270hp engine sang to me. If I didn't get such a sweat heart deal on the Accord I would have probably went with the Fusion as it's a tremendous value. On top of that Ford credit is offering 0% for 36 months so their credit can't be tight. If you need a car now is the time to buy. I strongly suggest using Cars.com for the pricing info as it was very helpful in getting me a great deal.

Last week I bought a Fusion SEL w/ the six cylinder engine, leather, Sirius, etc. I absolutely love it but would have never bought one if it were not for the great pricing. I also liked the Honda Accord a lot but could not justify the $4,000 difference. I hope my Fusion is as reliable as my old Camry. That thing went 212,000 miles with basic maintenance.

I saw a new Mazda6 from the rear 3/4 view. Why I saw it, my initial thought was, "They finally did something about those ugly tail lights on the Chrysler Sebring." Then when I got alongside and to the front of the car, I realized it was a Mazda6. It appears so much bigger and that's probably what Mazda really needs now. Of course, they also need something to slot in below the now larger Mazda3.

at the time we ran this story there was no 0% for the Malibu.
