Volvo Brings Back Free Maintenance

Volvox

As sales have fallen off a cliff, Volvo dealers have convinced corporate headquarters to bring back its free maintenance program.

Last seen in 2006, Volvo will once again offer free maintenance for the first three years or 36,000 miles for all 2009 models. The automaker hopes that this will lead customers to choose Volvo over the competition. Three years of free scheduled maintenance is a decent incentive.

Other automakers with free maintenance programs for 2009 models include BMW, Land Rover and Saab. Volkswagen is now offering the free perk for its '09 models.

Volvo's maintenance interval is 7500 miles so you'll get 4 free service intervals. Owners should be prepared for the high cost for the 37,500 mile service.... it'll make you wonder if the previous 4 services were really free!

Does anyone believe that VW's free maintenance is worth it considering how poor some models fare with time? I've read some posts both here and elsewhere concerning the nightmares VW owners encounter with reliability and dependability issues. I LIKE the New Beetle and Rabbit, but I'm not too sure I'd want to own one. Perhaps I'm wrong in thinking this way, and I'd sure like to purchase a new VW, but I'm not sure about service after signing on the dotted line, so to speak. Peace!

I got the extended maitenence for 100000 miles on my BMW and its paid for itself over and over so far oil changes, 2 $1500 brake jobs and a xenon light replacement all for a $50 deductable..... Awesome
