Recall Alert: Bridgestone Firestone Tires

Bridgestonefirestone

Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire has issued a recall for 162,251 tires that were produced with insufficient tread gauge, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Due to this production flaw, the tires will degrade more rapidly, causing vibrations while driving. Extended use could lead the tread to distort or even separate, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

The recall affects Firestone's line of FR380 tires, size P235/75R15, and LeMans Champion SE tires, size P235/75R15. Bridgestone Firestone will notify owners and replace the faulty tires for free, including mounting and balancing those replacements for no charge.

Tire owners can contact Bridgestone Firestone toll free at 800-465-1904, or contact NHTSA's vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236.

Were these tires ever standard on any vehicles? If so, it’s good to see a supplier making a recall as oppose to the automaker. We wouldn’t want another Ford Exploder, I mean Explorer, situation.

here we go again!

It is a wonder that B/F is still in business.

You have to wonder who is piloting the ship at B/F. If you keep running into the iceburg, you're eventually gonna go down.

What happened to quality control?

Its no wonder i never considered B/F tires.....

I bought a set of Firestone Destination 245 70r 17 for my GMC 06 truck. They are the worst set of tires I have every purchased. I have had these tires for almost a year and they have around 30-40,000 miles. I have had several shops try and balance them and they all say they cannot get them balanced.I cannot balance them at all. I have had to add more than 4 oz. of weight to 3 of the 4 tires. Anyone else having the same issues?

Sounds like your finished with that set. F/B are okay tires from my expeience of driving a company car. I not sure of excessive city driving that they seemed to wear quickly.
