Recall Alert: 2009 Volkswagen Passat
Volkswagen has issued a recall for 130 Passats, including the Passat CC and Passat Wagon. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a damaged capacitor could lead to a malfunctioning gearbox, a defect that would occur right after the vehicle is started and when the steering wheel is first moved at a speed under 5 mph.
This will cause vibrations in the steering wheel, or the steering system could shut down altogether, which could cause an accident. Dealers will replace the steering gear in any affected vehicle beginning Dec. 5.
Owners can contact Volkswagen at 800-822-8987 or the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236.

Yet again VW proves that they can't produce a quality vehicle. Why have all there new models come with recalls within the first month or two of sales? The only VW I'd feel slightly comfortable buying is the Jetta TDI.

I like to listen to the local and national news on Channel 6(87.7 fm) in Columbus when I happen to be driving during that time. I have a 2007 Buick Terazza and this last spring, the station suddenly began acting at times like it was loosing signal(sounds like cymbals clashing sort of). The radio in my 2003 Chevy Silverado doesn't do it or has it ever in almost 6 years. The GM dealer says he thinks that it is because the station went digital early this year which results in a narrower band siginal. Has anyone else experenced this problem when listening to 87.7fm that now operates as a digital station? Harvey H.

I'm looking for consumer information on the 2009 VW Jetta turbo diesel. The car will be used mainly for commuting 38 miles on rural 55 mph highways. Anybody out there have experience with the new diesel?
