Pontiac Adds Four-Cylinder Engine to G6

2009g6

Pontiac will add a 2.4-liter EcoTec four-cylinder engine to the 2009 G6 coupe. The engine will be available in the new SE trim level.

Offering 164 hp and 156 pounds-feet of torque, the engine will give the coupe better gas mileage than current V-6 versions of the coupe and convertible manage. Not only will the new engine offer a more fuel-efficient choice, but also a lower sticker price to attract buyers in a tough economic environment. The G6 sedan with the same powertrain gets an EPA-estimated 22/33 mpg city/highway.

Expect the 2009 G6 to also borrow a front-end design from its big brother, the G8. GM expects the new G6 to roll out in the middle of 2009.
