2009 Nissan 370Z Power Numbers Revealed
We first saw teaser images of Nissan’s successor to the 350Z sports car last month, and now we have some specs and a new image to satisfy your Z needs. The full reveal of the new 370Z takes place Nov. 19 at the L.A. auto show, and the car will be available in early 2009. For now, though, we can tell you that the 3.7-liter V-6 will officially make 332 hp. Along with the additional power, Nissan has shortened the wheelbase, increased the use of lightweight materials and stiffened the chassis.
Power is up 26 hp compared to the outgoing 350Z, and combined with the lighter materials that results in an increased power-to-weight ratio, Nissan says; this is typically a sure-fire recipe for more speed. Backing up the more-powerful 3.7-liter is either a six-speed manual transmission or a new seven-speed automatic. The manual will host a new rev-matching feature that blips the throttle for smoother downshifts and matches engine speed to the right gear. The feature is commonly reserved for automatic transmissions, and we’re curious how well the feature will be executed on the six-speed. We’ve been fairly content with our right foot doing the job.

I wonder if they're going to do anything about that "black hole" interior that is in the current version of the model? That, along with that oddly-placed stabilizer in the rear, made the car a no-buy decision for me. I bought a Mustang instead, which I sometimes regret when I need nimble handling and smoother power uptake! But then again, I can also fit 4, so that's a plus.
Joe,
you should get G35 Coupe. Then you would have all you need, 4 seats and handling.
Mustang, even in today's form (in my opinion) is not a modern car. It still lives 30 years ago.
A 7 speed automatic?? Dang, I wonder how good it will be considering Mercedes is the only other one. Yes, I know Lexus has an 8 speed in the LS but Mercedes offers a 7 speed in its entry level car and up. Lexus only offers it in the flagship. And maybe the IS-F
i agree joe, my brother was looking at these but he cant fit his racing wheelchair in with that chunky strut, although he can get it into a 2 seater 300zx, so i think they should move its position so there is more overall space in the back
No price no talk.
