Today on MotherProof.com: Road-Kill Prevention

Deer

At best, road kill is disgusting. At worst, it’s downright dangerous. Hitting a deer while going the speed limit can total your car and severely injure any occupants (not to mention the poor deer). So, what if you could prevent animal-vehicle encounters? That’s what Colorado is going for with its notion of a road-kill prevention system. Learn more by reading today's post on MotherProof.com.

The deer population is way too high. States need to ease or eliminate restrictions on deer hunting.

My ex hit a big buck just yesterday, came through the windshield on the passenger side. Thank God my son wasn't with her at the time or he'd be dead. Totalled her car, too. My daughter had one run into the side of her car last year. Anything they can do to reduce deer strikes, bring it on.

Hi
I see in Colorado they are trying new technology to detect animals crossing the road to warn drivers. Do you know if any organisation is looking into Sat-Nav technology that could detect Animals on the road in front of cars. I think this would be a better way forward to prevent road kill as soon, every car will have Sat-Nav as standard. If for example Sat-Nav's had the technology for detecting Animals or People on the road ahead it could dramatically reduce Road Kill and pedestrian death. Also if for example you lived in an area of the country where there was a high percentage of car accidents involving animals, you would most likely invest in this type of technology, if you knew it could save your life or the animals life.

Regards

Gerard
