2008 Paris Motor Show: Lamborghini Estoque Concept

Lambo

  • Looks like: Lamborghini might finally have a new design style
  • Defining characteristics: Four doors, infinite badness
  • Ridiculous features: Four doors
  • Chance of being mass-produced: There’s no official word, but we’d guess chances are high

Lamborghini says this is a design study. We say it’s awesome. The Estoque — which is the name of the sword a bullfighter uses — is a super-sports sedan, according to the folks at Lamborghini. They make this statement without any nod as to what would reside under the engine cover, but they do say it’s an all-wheel-drive, mid-engine layout like the current Murcielago and Gallardo.

That being the case, we thoroughly expect Lamborghini could drop the V-12 or V-10 from those cars into the Estoque if it so desired.

What really makes us happy is that Lamborghini is finally going in a new direction with its design, away from the sharp Countach lines that have dominated its lineup since the 1970s. We’d like to see the coupes follow this design language, too. The Estoque manages to look sexy and sophisticated, yet it’s still uniquely a Lamborghini. With both Maserati and Ferrari getting more voluptuous in their designs with the recent Gran Tourismo and California, respectively, Lamborghini seems to be following quite nicely.

Apart from the Reventon, this is just about the most badass car I've ever seen...

real sick car!!!!!! i love it!!!!!

I think the "mid-engine layout" they're talking about is where the engine is in front of the cabin, but behind the front axle. Judging from the photos and other posts I've seen of this car, it seems that an engine in front would fit nicely.

Also, those headlight positioning lights are likely the most innovative and tenacious I've ever seen. BMW has a great signature with their angel eyes and Audi's are even better. But this Lambo takes the top prize!

Wow......

I think "Esotoque" sounds better.

It looks like an Acura. I'd wait for the Panamera.

Nah, give me a aston martin rapide!

John, I think this could be the Panamera in a different form to justify the business case. After all, VW owns Lambo (Audi subsidiary) and Porsche has a siginifcant ownership stake in VW. Similar collaboration like the Touraeg and Cayenne...

I don't agree. I think a four door extension doesn't fit well with the brand, although I do think that chances of it getting mass produced are high.

Wow, that's a great car! Reminds me of a batmobile I've seen on the dark knight movie. That could be so expensive, just wondering if I could be able to have one.

Estoque could be a watershed in that Lamborghini is moving away from its traditional angular design. Probably, they've realised that people have got a bit bored of the traditional lamborghini design
