Cars.com Reviews the 2009 Ford Escape
Ford has been slowly but surely making improvements to the Escape, its compact SUV offering, since it entered the market years ago. For 2009, Ford gives the Escape new drivetrains and an improved ride. Can these incremental changes convince Cars.com senior editor Joe Wiesenfelder that the Escape is worthy of shoppers’ consideration?

Glad to see Ford make many improvements to the Escape. MY09 Escapes will be even more competitive. But what's with Ford's reluctance for rear wheel disc brakes? Guess the the beancounters still rule at Ford.
Agree with JW on the poor design of the rear seat headrests that must be removed when folding the seat.. a real PITA.
I don't understand why it takes Ford so long to work out the bugs. I loved my 2005 Escape but when the transmission blew at 45,000 the dealer said, "It happens to a lot of them. It will cost $3500 to fix." Ford Corp was not willing to help even though my Escape was serviced 100% at the dealer. I decided never again would I be a Ford customer. I ended-up trading in my Escape for a Honda CRV and haven't looked back. I love my CRV but will never forget how Ford screwed me.
