Car Sales Down Overseas, Too

Fordkuga

The massive loss of sales for automakers in the U.S. last month wasn’t isolated to these shores. Overseas, countries like the U.K saw new-car sales plunge 21% in September, its fifth straight month of falling new-car sales.

Like in the U.S., these drops happened despite numerous new models hitting the market. Spain and Italy also saw sales fall.

Things aren’t much better in recently car-crazed China. Sales were down 26%, a record drop over the past 50 years.

One of the few countries seeing an uptick in new car sales was France, where sales were up 8% in September. This was partly due to the government aiding the purchase of less-polluting cars. Those cars are usually also French brands.
