First Look: 2009 Nissan 370Z

370z2009

The rumors have proven to be true. Nissan’s redesigned Z will be called the 370Z. Nissan hasn’t released any specs, but we’d assume it will pack the 3.7-liter V-6 found in the G37. In that car the engine produces 330 horsepower.

What we can talk about are the 370Z’s looks: immediately striking is the higher roofline and a truncated rear. The proportions look a bit odd, but we’ll have to reserve final opinions until we see it at the L.A. Auto Show in a few weeks. The Z goes on sale in early 2009. More photos below.

I liked the looks of the 350Z better.

as fast as the G37 sedan & coupe are, it will be exciting to see how much faster (?) this 370Z will be. the current 350Z obviously gets beaten by the G37 in so many ways. i hope it lost some weight too. don't want to get too big and approach GT-R's size ...?

I love it. The only thing that I would change is the rear bumper design- I'm no mechanic- but I have backed into a few things, lol, that one looks like even a small hit could be a nightmare.

I like it. The profile looks like an homage to the original 240Z. I'm not sure about the front end - from that angle it seems very catfishlike - but the interior looks like a big improvement.

I just hope they don't jack the price up too much.

Nissan goes Porsche

Always liked Nissan's sport cars and owned some in the past, as recently as 2005.

This one looks like a take off from original Nissan forms, but still lovely.

So this is a Z Maxima-fied.

I'm surprised it was actually pulled off quite well.

Looks like the Solstice Coupe...And that is NOT a COMPLIMENT!

J, Are you sure you know what a Solstice coupe looks like?

"it has a lot of looks like the old 300zx"

Nameless,

were you drunk or forgot how 300zx looks like?

300 zx and the car on the picture above have little in commom in terms of body.
Actually it has... The badge :o)

If it looks like anything Nissan, it looks like well rounded 1983 240z or 280zx.

It looks like Porsche 911 Carrera

to the guy 2 comments below me thats talks about the g37 beating the 350z geez please dont post comments on any other car websites... the infinity(nissans sister company) g37 is the g35 update has a 3.7 liter v6 the 350 z has 3.5 liter and the 370z has a 3.7 liter as well the same motor as the g37 but it is shorter and lighter than the original... 0-60 under 5 secs

Tony, I think that comment refers to the Z31, which does resemble a little bit.

for the most part, it looks like as reasonable transistion from generation to the next. very conservitive. thought that nissan would make a more radical departure from current design to a more powerful drivetrain that fills the gap between it and the gtr. maybe a 370ZTurbo.
