Pontiac G8 GXP Finds More Power

G8gxp

Since last season’s auto shows, actual power ratings have been released for the new Corvette ZR1 and Cadillac CTS-V, revealing more power than GM’s own conservative estimates. The same has now happened for the 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP. Originally shown at the 2008

New York auto show with an estimated 402 hp and 402 pounds-feet of torque, the car now has received a certified rating of 415 hp and 415 pounds-feet of torque, which is 3% more power than was initially quoted. Enthusiasts everywhere will likely be excited when it goes on sale later this year, but we wonder if the slow-selling G8 will see any halo effect from this high-powered version entering the lineup.

Go GM! About time you do something right! I hope this car is around 35K! I'll pick one up right away.

slow selling? compared to what. They only projected to sell 30k-40k in a full year. Unlike the GP this car isnt being sold to rental agencies in large numbers so it will take a while to build up a reputation. The important thing is that the GXP adds another option to an already well received model.

this car will have a 6 speed auto or manual. No mileage figures have been released. Expect 14/22 or so since there is no AFM on this model.
