Mercedes-Benz conceptFascination Wagon

Fascinating230

When it comes to concepts, Mercedes-Benz goes one of two ways. One, the concept is nearly identical to a soon-to-be-released production car. Two, it’s a wacky design study that has no chance of hitting a showroom.

With the conceptFascination — we don’t get the name, either — it looks like Mercedes is trying something new. The short wagon/hatchback body style and long hood don’t make sense for sale, but the car itself is said to be built on the next E-Class’ underpinnings.

While we wouldn’t bet the new E-Class gets a coupe-styled hatchback like this concept has, we bet the front end will look a lot like this concept. Powering the concept is a future diesel four-cylinder meant for the European market only. If you’re intrigued by the look, check out more photos below.

Why is it, that German automakers very rarely make huge changes to their styling. Especially Porsche, which is a good example.

Because they already hit the sweet spot

This reminds me of a Dodge Magnum. Nice but I don't think it will sell.

Why fix something that isn't broken? Don't like it? Go buy a Lexus or something.
