The big sale that got buyers interested in saving $9,000 on Hummer H3s and $10,000 on a Corvette Z06 is still on. Scheduled to end yesterday, GM has extended its employee pricing sale through the end of September on all 2008 and some 2009 models.

I thought that part of the deal was that they were going to have a solid, firm "end date" this time. They are shooting themselves in the foot with this one.

Keith

The end date is when they clear out their 2008 model year inventory.

Sounds like desperation

The employee pricing plan worked in so far as getting me to test drive the Chevrolet Malibu. I decided to cross-shop it along with the Camry, Accord and Legacy. One long test drive later and it was clear that the Malibu is nothing more an upgraded rental car. It handled very good but everything else about the car was disappointing. From the cheap hard plastic interior (Hello, driver's arm rest is meant to have an arm rested on it! Not to feel like a slab of plastic you would find inside a public transportation bus!) Where's the integrated keyless fob!? The keyless fob is separate from the key and looks like something from the mid 80's. Frankly the Malibu is no where even in the same class as the Accord. The car that I will probably end up purchasing. Even the last generation Camry easily outsells it. Now I understand why.

At this rate in six months they will be paying people to take their obsolete vehicles off their hands
