Cars.com Reviews 2008 Mercury Sable

2008sable

We haven’t tested the Montego Sable since its 2008 redesign. Mike Hanley recently got his hands on one of these stately full-size sedans, and Cars.com Best Bet, that’s the twin of the Ford Taurus. How does this land barge match up to its competitors, the Buick Lucerne, Toyota Avalon and Chrysler 300? Will minor cosmetic enhancements, a powertrain and transmission upgrade, and some sound-deadening extras really fix this boring sedan? Read Mike's full review to find out.

2008 Sable?? Running out of car reviews??

SouthTX

It is an excellent car specially for families and it is more attractive than the Avalon or the 300. It is a good alternative for people who need the space and don't want a SUV. I like the Lucerne too.

Really...

Why not review the PT Cruiser...

This is a great, safe family car. In terms of highway interior quietness, how does the Sable compare to the Avalon or the Lucerne?

My brother has the older 500 has a company car and has been very happy with it. I have driven it a little myself and prefer the Impala to it. He has put on 70K completely trouble free miles on it so far. The large trunk serves him well on trips. Not a car I would select but not a bad car, the Impala gave us more for our money and drove a little more sporty. I also get a few more mpgs then he does.

I like it:

Sable: it has class but modern design.
Lucerne: Classy.
300: too pimped, but I knew someone who thought it looked like a Rolls.
Avalon: Senior mobile which breaks down a lot.
