Cars.com Faceoff: 2009 Hyundai Genesis, 2009 Lincoln MKS, 2008 Buick Lucerne Super
They're big, they're comfortable and they're pricey. The full-size sedans that came under the scrutiny of our team of reviewers all have their advantages and winning features, but, alas, only one could come out on top. Mike Hanley, Joe Wiesenfelder and David Thomas pit the 2008 Buick Lucerne, 2009 Hyundai Genesis and 2009 Lincoln MKS against each other in a test of fuel economy, drivability and, of course, country-club cred. To find out which pampering bad boy comes out on top in their book, check out the full faceoff on Cars.com.

It's not a surprise that the Genesis came out on top. I had the opportunity to thoroughly check this car out recently and I was highly impressed. The Genesis is a top notch car that will beat the pants off competitor's cars.
Hyundai has set the bar very high and is now the car company to beat.
Ok hyundai is not a luxury brand so it should be compared to Avalon, Maxima, and 300.The 300 would really beat the pants of of the genesis horse power and looks.
I think it's an honor for the Hyundai to be competing in this class. Congrats Hyundai!
The only way the 300 would beat the Genesis HP-wise is in SRT8 form. Then it'd be about $5K more fully equipped with Nav. In the V-8 form most buyers in this class would buy, the Genesis has more HP, though the Chrysler does have more torque. Still, either way the Hyundai has a serious MPG advantage.
this isnt too surprising since the MKS has a V6 and the Lucerne is 3 years old and built on a platform from the early 90s. The Genesis should've been a V6 or the MKS should have been left out until it has the 340hp motor. Other reviews have indicated the Genesis is definitely NOT a sports sedan so I suspect its not much different from its FWD competitors in handling.
sheth,
We've driven both the V-6 and V-8 Genesis models but went with the V-8 for this comparison test because of its similar pricing to the competition.
Again, brand loyalty puts blinders on people. Why must we be afraid to step out of our comfort zones? I think the Genesis has a lot going for it. If I was in the market, it would be on my short list.
Every review I've seen has said that the Genesis isn't a sports car in the tradition of BMW, or even Infiniti. But all I've seen have said the Genesis is balanced and neutral with little body roll, so getting from not a sports car to drives like a FWD Buick is a major stretch.
