End-of-the-Model-Year Deals: Toyota

2008fjcruiser

There is a common belief that Toyota never offers deals on its cars. There are two reasons for that: One, popular models often aren’t discounted, and two, Toyota uses very complex regional incentives that make it hard to track down where the best discounts are. That’s why most incentive sites, including Cars.com’s, ask you for your zip code. However, we still wanted to paint a picture of what you can find at your local Toyota dealership as the 2008s leave the lots.

Check out the list and our thoughts below.

  • 2008 4Runner: Between $1,000 and $5,000, depending on region
  • 2008 FJ Cruiser: $4,000 in Midwest/Chicago
  • 2008 Sequoia: $4,000-$5,500
  • 2008 Sienna: $1,300-$2,000
  • 2008 RAV4: $500-$1,000
  • 2008 Tacoma: $1,000-$2,500
  • 2008 Tundra: $3,000-$5,500
  • 2008 Camry: $1,500 in Southeast/Miami
  • 2008 Highlander: $0-$1,500

Because Toyota is so geographically specific with its rebates, please make sure to double check with both Cars.com’s incentive’s page and Toyota’s consumer site. If you find a better deal than we have listed, please mention it in the comments below.

The 2009 versions of almost all these models are virtually identical to the 2008s. Our favorite deal is the FJ Cruiser’s; it’s a fun car for off-road enthusiasts. Cars.com’s Smart Target Price on the FJ is almost $900 less than the MSRP. Add a potential $4,000 cash back, and you’re looking at roughly $18,000 for a base model.

HM,
thanks for the heads up, it's fixed now. Who runs this place anyway?

Oh man, I know people who paid 30k por a basic FJ when it came to the market.

question. the more rebates, the more the resale goes down. that is a general rule. what is the deal when it might be the same rebate, but only regional?

I don't know how Toyota escapes criticism for it's FJ.

If the Hummer is "evil incarnate", then how does the "it just looks cooler than the 4 Runner it's baised on" not attract the ire of the Siera Club?
