End-of-the-Model-Year Deals: Suzuki

2008subarusx4

In an interesting twist on model-year closeouts, Suzuki is offering an entire new trim level for its outgoing 2008 SX4 hatchback and sedan. Because the 2009s have already been announced with navigation standard — a Garmin unit that fits in a specially designed cradle in the dash and can be removed from the car — the company is now doing the same for its 2008 Sport sedan and the front-wheel-drive version of its SX4 Crossover hatchback. We’re guessing the all-wheel-drive version of the Crossover isn’t included because it’s the best-selling trim level. The new trim is called Road Trip Edition. Non-navigation-equipped models are still on sale as well; the price difference is about $500.

The SX4 Crossover starts at $14,889 before destination, and the Road Trip Edition starts at $15,339. There’s also between $750 and $1,500 cash back offered on the 2008 SX4. Suzuki also has a generous $1,000 bonus-cash deal for recent college graduates. Most automakers only offer $500. For the rest of Suzuki’s year-end deals, click below.

  • 2008 XL7: $2,000-$2,500, based on trim level
  • 2008 Grand Vitara: $3,000
  • 2008 SX4 Crossover: $750-$1,500 based on trim level
  • 2008 SX4 Sport: $1,000
  • 2008 Forenza: $500 ($1,500 on West Coast)
  • 2008 Forenza Wagon: $500 ($1,500 on West Coast)
  • 2008 Reno: $500 ($1,500 on West Coast)

As always, be sure to double-check your zip code for offers available in your region on Suzuki’s special offers page.

I wish they would release the FWD version of the sx4 crossover it will get better gas mileage. Who needs AWD or 4WD...just give us traction control.

the crossover is now available as fwd, check suzuki's website. technically, i-AWD is now an option. therefore all sx4 crossovers are now standard fwd w/ optional i-AWD.

I'm pretty sure we say clearly above there is a FWD sx4

rwcrick is right. You CAN get an SX4 Crossover (hatchback) in front wheel drive now. Go to the Suzuki website and check it out. i-AWD is now an option, so don't pick i-AWD and you will have a FWD only version.
What I suggest if your budget will allow it is go for the SX4 Crossover Road TRIP™ Edition Touring Package, it's an increadible deal! It adds the following:
Suzuki Road TRIP™ NAVI System
Suzuki Road TRIP™ Real-time traffic and MSN Direct²
Suzuki Road TRIP™ Bluetooth® Hands-free calling
AM/FM/CD audio system with in-dash 6-disc changer, MP3/WMA™ playback, XM® Ready, 9-speaker audio system including subwoofer
50/50 split tumble and fold-down rear seatbacks
SmartPass™ keyless entry and start system
Leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio controls
Cruise control
Heated outside mirrors
Air conditioning with automatic climate control
Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) with Traction Control System (TCS)
Front fog lamps
Rear spoiler
If you really don't need or want navigation you can get the exact same package but without the navigation unit for $600 less.
Even with the Navigation included and all of the other extras this loaded package 17,899 and that is before any other type of rebate or special! I've been car shopping for the past 5 months and trust me, you won't be able to match that deal or even close with any other comparible car for that price and specially when you consider that Suzuki has a 7 year, 100,000 mile warrant. But remember one thing... if you compare warranties, just remember that Suzuki's warrant has NO DEDUCTABLE per occurance and is 100% TRANSFERABLE to ANYONE if you choose to sell the car at some point. Those 2 things make this warranty a much better and more practical deal that all of the other brands. Also remember that if you decide to compare to other brands you have to match the amount of options and features that the SX4 comes with. That's the only REAL way to know what kind of deal you're getting. If you find a competitor brand you might consider, add in EVERYTHING that you would get with the SX4. Don't forget also that any car you compare it to has to have at least a 145 HP engine or within a few horse power, otherwise you are not comparing a comparable car, you are comparing a LESSER car.

dave,

i was responding to ziggy, not the your blog's post. a lot of people have been tripped up by the fact that all sx4 crossovers are now technically fwd w/ optional awd (except for the road trip, where you can't get awd).
