First Look: 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon
Unlike the 2010 Cadillac SRX, we know a fair amount about the new 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon. The wagon version of the popular CTS sedan is already slated for sale in Europe, and it’s now coming to the U.S. as a 2010 model, going on sale in the spring of 2009.
Believe it or not, the Sport Wagon is .3 inches shorter than the sedan. Cargo area with the rear seats up is 25 cubic feet, which is less than the 2008 Audi A4 Avant or Saab 9-3 SportCombi, which come in at 27.8 and 29.7 cubic feet, respectively.
We also know all about the engine options. The wagon will get the same two V-6 engines as the regular CTS sedan, putting out 263 hp or 304 hp, depending on the model. Both come with six-speed automatic transmissions. All-wheel drive will also be offered.
As for the look, we’re a bit disappointed the rear isn’t nearly as well-executed as the sedan’s or the recent CTS Coupe concept’s. Check out more photos below and let us know what you think.

That's a very pretty car but I think the taillights would have been best terminated at fender height instead of extending to the roof.
It looks really good. the CTW sedan was a winner and this one is great, it looks like GM engineers are doing a good job.
I suppose in Europe they will enjoy the manual transmission, does cars.com know if we could have that option?
Is Cadillac abandoning the market for families that have more than 2 children, but need another vehicle in addidtion to a large or mid-size SUV?
I have 3 children and drive both a large SUV and a 3-row crossover, both the CTS and SRX vehicles wold be too small for my needs. Is there another vehicle on the horizon that would fulfill that niche?
A disclaimer: between my 2 vehicles, I probabaly drive less than 20,000 miles per year, so the current gas prices are really not a factor in my decision-making, but rather comfort and both people and cargo capacity.

I personally like to see a little more glass in the rear area. There are no pictures from the inside but looks like a bit of a blind spot. A nice looking car and even if it is not a big wagon having a hatch back at least allows for carrying those big items home.
some people (few in this country) appreciate the significant advantages of a wagon (such as performance/ handling etc) and don't want to wallow around in an SUV/crossover/whatever you want to call them. don't forget, if you have a lot of stuff and drive many people around regularly, you still have the Escalade, Bill in Boston! although you don't want all that bling to get ruined when some dude runs off after side-swiping you have to park on the street or in a tight spot. seems to happen to almost everyone at least once in Boston
for people like Bill in Boston, I always wondered how people with big families got around before these huge SUVs were around ... or even before minivans ... the irony is, family size seems to be significantly smaller these days? families must not have gotten around well and did not have fun family trips ...
Huge blind spot...
Bill in Boston,
I would guess they'd answer you with the Escalade.
Of you would go to the Buick Enclave.
I love how people have such a narrow mindset...everyone thinks they know what people should or should not be driving.
And for large families, such as the one I grew up in, the preferred method of transportation before the SUV was the full-size van. Try fitting a family of six in a station wagon and see how miserable everybody gets.
As for the CTS sportwagon...I think it's a pretty slick design and am looking forward to seeing the real thing as opposed to these typically unflattering media photos.
Alright!!! I'm glad to see Cadillac bringing back a pseudo-tailfin: on this and the SRX.
I'm also glad that GM has wised up on keeping brand names (like SRX) instead of killing them off every product cycle.
One thing I hate though...is that Cadillac insignia in the right rear corner on the chrome bar above the license plate. It's on the SRX too and it's just dumb..people know a Caddy when they see it.
looking at a CTS wagon and wondering about what to haul a big family in is akin to looking at an A4 Avant and wondering how Audi has abandoned those with big families.
i don't think Cadillac would find a sizable market for entry lux wagons in the US. it'll go the way of the Magnum. too bad. the more i look at these pics, the nicer it seems to look.
my guess is, those rare few who would buy a $35k+ wagon tend to go for the 3 series and A4 Avants. American and Japanese mid-size car-based wagons don't ever seem to last long anymore (no Camry/Accord/Mazda6 wagons exist now, for example)
Sure that's great, but now I'm pining for the renaissance of the Buick Roadmaster.
with the new Pontiac G8 ST coming out, there may be a sport wagon coming into the G8 family, as the Holden Commodore Sport Wagon has just been released in Australia, i believe it is approximately the same size as the Magnum,
Dave T. do you know anything about it?
Lil'Tom is showing his age. i'm 30 and have seen black and white photos of this Roadmaster monster ...
AUD,
GM canceled plans of bringing over a G8 wagon. Sorry.
oh well, too bad, more for us :), by the way do u know about a GXP version of the G8 ST?
