2009 Honda Fit Prices Start $600 Higher Than 2008

The all-new 2009 Honda Fit goes on sale in the next few weeks, and we have a full price breakdown below. The base Fit with a five-speed manual will start at $14,550, excluding a $670 destination charge. The outgoing 2008 started at $13,950. While $600 might not sound like a lot of money, that’s 4% higher than the 2008 figure. The average price increase for a model year with no changes is typically between 1% and 3%, while redesigned models recently have added more content and kept the increase to around 5%. We’ve also, however, seen redesigned vehicles with more content, especially from Nissan, start for less than the outgoing model.

The Fit Sport is $790 more for 2009, a 5% increase. See the full pricing below, including a new navigation system being offered for the first time on the Fit. If you want to check out more news on the 2009 Honda Fit go here.

Because of the price, can you guys do a comparo of the Fit and the Mini?

CJ, The Mini's starting price starts at the Fit's top price. Not sure if they really compare on price alone.

They might be cross-shopped though. Buyers who want a little luxury (Fit Nav) and style and good economy. And it makes more sense as a comparo than that crazy image car comparo you guys had awhile ago. What I'm really curious about are the difference in driving dynamics.

I doubt that they will cross-shop between a 5 door and a 3 door.

But the Fit Sport w/ Navi sure sounds too expensive! It is well into the Civic's mid range!

I'd forget the honda nav option. riding with my daughter in their honda out on county roads had us in no mans land on the gps map.. I bought a portable for $200, and it'll find dirt roads if you want it to.. (and sometimes if you don't). I don't think Honda knows anyone lives in the country, let alone that there are roads out there. btw.. love my 07 fit.. the 09 should be here in a month or so.

I'm with J, the Civic is a much better value. In all forms the Fit seems overpriced for its size and just OK mileage.

The Hyundai Accent is a larger, safer hatchback, that gets better mileage and has a better warranty, and stickers for under $11,000. That seems like a better fit.
