Movers and Losers: June Top 10

Srt8fastmover

June was a tough month for nearly every automaker in total sales, but there were many models flying off the lots. We’re not just talking hybrids either, although the fastest-selling car in June was the Toyota Prius. Ironically, the second-fastest selling model was the new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8. Even with its limited production and massive advance sales, it managed to meet our sales threshold for the month. Six of the top 10 movers were Toyota, Lexus or Scion models.

We’re still unsure how it’s taking massively popular hybrids days to sell, because most dealers tell us they sell before they roll off the trucks. There is a distinct variation between models, though, so we’re going to stick with the data we have. Check out the top 10 movers and losers below.

Surprised to the see the tC on the list. They must have scaled back production on it because of it's decrease in sales numbers over the last year.

The tC is an 09. So, they probably don't have many going to dealers and Scion buyers want the latest and greatest, particularly since there aren't incentives offered on Scions.

As far as Prius's showing in stock even while there are wait lists...it all depends on how the inventory days are calculated. A vehicle shows in Toyota's inventory I believe when it is in shipment to the dealer from the distribution center (port). So, I think that may be when they are starting the count.
