Cars.com Reviews the 2008 Lexus LX 570

Lexuslx

There have been a lot of comments about SUVs on this blog as of late. Some of our readers don’t see why they exist. They don’t understand why some SUVs remain hot sellers despite $4 gas prices. Well, one of the hottest SUVs on the market right now is the $75,000 (or so) Lexus LX 570. It might not be selling in mass volumes, but sales were up 230% in June over the same period in 2007.

I spent a week with this smooth-riding utility vehicle and came away somewhat impressed/surprised, but there are quite a few flaws to be found in even the most expensive of SUVs.

2008 Lexus LX 570 Expert Review

Comments

Umm, people...you are all disappointing me. Here's another posting about some gas-guzzling SUV and not one comment yet from our "environmental conscience" about why no one should be driving this beast because no one needs it and how a Civic can fit a laptop bag and a set of golf clubs just fine.

You haven't seen one yet because those people only seem to write those comments about big American cars. Its okay for Toyota to build abd sell this, they have the Pruis, lol.

Again the whole issue with how to define a hot seller. The LX 570 is not a hot seller in terms of numbers. They are just doing a good job of producing enough for the demand.

Stating sales up 230% sounds great but it is a meaningless number without knowing the numbers that go into the calculation.

Sold 10 last year, sold 33 this year.

That doesn't shout out hot seller.

Yeah, there's a big difference between trying to off-load 50,000 excursions and 5,000 of these.

It's not a defense, as Toyota does try to off-load 50k Sequoias...but gas prices are taking care of those.

Keith yes a honda civic can fit a laptop and golf bags just fine but can it seat 8 people and tow 8,500 lb. come with service like a lexus has, and tackle just about any terrain you may want to go over can it Keieth no none of that the civic can do
