Those in the market for a Pilot should consider the 08 vs. 09 simply because the 09 is UGLY. This past weekend I was comparing the two models side-by-side. Simply put, what in the heck was Honda thinking with the 09 redesign. The front of this thing is butt ugly. The tail lights look more outdated compared to the 08. The overall body style of the 09 appears boxy and with body panels that are very flat. The only positive note is the interior, but there wasn't anything wrong with the 08 interior anyway. Shame on Honda for designing a shoe box on wheels. At least they could have thrown in a free box of shoes with every 09 Pilot bought.

Our 2006 Pilot has done over 30,000 miles and it have NEVER had even a single warranty repair. It is by far the most reliable vehicle we have ever owned, and it is as rock solid now as it was the day we brought it home.

No rattles, nothing has fallen apart and everything is built with an unusual heft that absolutely shouts quality. The quality is baked into everything you touch and feel, and the mechanicals operate with a seamless liquid fluidity.

The interior shows no wear and even the original tires have a lot of tread left. It is reasonably economical considering the weight and engine size, and is quite efficient on long trips with the Variable Cylinder Management system, which isn't quite imperceptable, but is unobtrusive.

I think the old model looks better than the 2009 and am somewhat disappointed in the Jeep-like silhouette of the 2009. I had hoped for more of a Mazda CX-9 sleekness. The interor of the 2008 appears upgraded from the 2008, although there was very little to improve upon. The one aspect I don't like - the column mounted transmission shifter, has thankfully been moved to the dash, ahead of the console.
I only hope that 2009 Pilot is built as well as the outgoing model.

Honda Carland in Roswell GA take care of our Pilot and their service quality is as good as the Pilot itself.

We had Toyotas before but they didn't wear nearly as well as this Pilot has, and experiencing Toyota service is like having a root canal without anesthesia!

We are sold on Honda.

And I want this Pilot over a minivan why exactly? To make a fashion statement? Not sure why when a Honda Odyssey offers:

- more cargo room
- more passenger space
- better fuel economy
- better safety
- better emergency handling
- less likely to rollover

The time to wear an SUV like a purse is over, if you ask me.
