Reader Review of the Week: 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid
As a self-described "car guy," our reader reviewer, "Hoss" decided to buy the most functional car possible for his wife. He chose a 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid because she does a lot of stop-and-go driving in their hometown of Hartford, Conn. Although he has a few gripes, he still finds himself stealing the car from his wife every once in awhile to enjoy the benefits of fuel efficiency. Also, be sure to read our expert review and post your own here.
"Being a 'car guy,' I bought this for my wife, who does a lot of in-town driving. We got the 50th Anniversary edition, and it is sharp. Compared to a regular gas engine car, the trunk is smaller, brakes slightly twitchier, and ride somewhat bouncier. This is all due to the hybrid drivetrain and extra weight. I have to say that after 15,000 miles, I enjoy driving the car when I get a chance.
Here in hilly New England, our summer mileage is low to mid-30s and slightly better on the highway using cruise. We drive it like a normal car so as not to aggravate those behind us. The interior materials, fit and finish are a little disappointing compared to my Accord EX-L, but this is minor. Reliability is spot on. We will keep this car for a long time."

How is reliability spot on if the car is a 2008?
How do you know that yet?

I really like the hybrid camry and even the prius too! I just wonder about the cost benefit compared to like a regular camry or even a corolla?

I have been hearing a lot lately about the declining quality of Toyota interiors. However, I doubt even the worst Toyota interiors even approach visual assault of the best Chrysler interiors.
Funny how GM is greatly improving interiors, when Toyota is cheapening them. Out of the Silverado/Malibu vs. Tundra/Camry, the GM pair features a nicer interior. I wouldn't have believed that was possible 5 years ago.....
