PickupTrucks.com: Falling in LUV Again
If you're looking for a reasonably priced light truck that gets decent mileage in the age of $4 a gallon gas, you're pretty much out of luck. As Mike Levine over at PickupTrucks.com points out, your options are highly limited, unless you look south of the border, where Chevy sells a light pickup called the Tornado that can haul 1,600 pounds, gets 30 miles to the gallon on the highway and costs under $15,000. Mike's wondering why this truck hasn't come stateside yet, and we'd like to know what you think: Would the Tornado sell in the states? Would you want to see a new compact truck on the roads?

This is exactly the form I have wanted for years. The look could be little better but front wheel drive for better handling in bad weather and good fuel economy would make me get one.
looks like el camino/pontiac g8 truck.
That reminds me of the Dodge Rampage of the early 80's.
I'd buy that in a heartbeat. My daily driver is a 1994 Toyota pickup. It gets about 28 mpg on the highway and it's a great commuter.
There's lots of great cars all over the world but car companies seem to think they won't sell in the US.
It's the same reason I can't get a station wagon.
before the focus in other countries was more to get them a good car that gave a good mpg. and here was more to get more horsepower and better cup holders. now they need a blend of the two.
It is a very cool looking vehicle. I've been wondering for years why they don't bring back the El Camino concept in a front wheel drive version, and here it is, a potential hit that Chevy won't sell in the U.S.
Chevy would need to add an automatic transmission because even small car buyers demand that luxury these days. Personally I've always prefered the stick shift but it is offered in so few vehicles these days.
