Gas-Saving Moment of the Day: Free Gas Deals

Freegas

A number of businesses are trying to gin up customer interest this summer by offering free gas if you make use of their product or service. Everyone from toy companies to golf club manufacturers are offering to help fill your tank. Now all you have to do is hunt down all these deals and tailor your life around them.

For instance, Sears kicks off its Father's Day sale June 7 by offering a $75 gas card for each purchase exceeding $100 on any men's Docker's apparel (excluding shoes). Shoppers are also entered into a contest to win a Toyota Prius.

  • Toyota is offering $50 gas cards with the purchase of four tires at any of its dealerships in the month of June, as long as the cost exceeds $150. Dealers, however, complain that $50 is not enough to attract additional business.
  • State and carpooling programs sometimes offer incentives to participating drivers. New Jersey is offering $100 to new carpools committing to 24 days over two months. California wants to give each carpool member $60, or $80 if they drive a hybrid.
  • Looking to improve your drive on the back nine anyway? Callaway Golf Clubs will give you a $50-$100 American Express Gas Card with the purchase of certain drivers.
  • If you're on a road trip, keep in mind that Comfort Inn, Clarion and Sleep Inn are offering a $50 gas card with any three stays, as long as you register with their points program. The deal is good through Aug. 14.
  • Any three-night booking with Hotels.com will snag you a $50 gas card when you use the code GAS50 before July 6.
  • State tourism boards are interested in getting your tourist dollars, so check any state's tourism website to find out what kind of gas incentives they're offering. Cities in Michigan, Colorado and Florida are offering $25-$50 for staying at certain destinations.
  • This is a strange one, but if you buy three of Hasbro's board games before July 31, it will give you $10 of free gas.
  • Use Travelocity to rent a Hertz car before June 30, and the first tank of gas is on them.

freegaspromos

There are actually a lot of companies that are now using free gas promotions to boost sales. I work for a company that promotes and sells these certificates, and we are having enormous success right now!!

The businesses are also reporting great results with these. People are drawn to them.

I guess it makes sense considering the ridiculous gas prices these days.
