$7,000 Cash Back on 2008 Hummer H3
If you want a new SUV, this is the best time we’ve ever witnessed to get a good deal. Automakers are offering huge discounts on most SUVs, and Hummer is no exception. Through June 30, buyers can get $7,000 cash back on a 2008 H3. Even if you finance it at 7% for 72 months, the total cost will be less than using GM’s new 0% financing offer we talked about earlier this week.
The H3 starts at $30,995 with a manual transmission and gets a combined 15 mpg. All-wheel drive is standard. Take that $7,000 cash back and you’re looking at $23,995. That’s less than all-wheel-drive versions of the Chevy Equinox, Dodge Journey, V-6 Ford Escape, Ford Edge, Kia Sorento, Mazda CX-7, Saturn Vue, Toyota FJ Cruiser, V-6 Toyota RAV4 and a few others. Many of those models may have their own rebates, of course, but seeing the H3 fall this far after a triumphant debut on the market a few years ago says a lot about the current state of the auto market.
Current Hummer owners are eligible for an additional $1,000 back, and qualifying owners of competing models are eligible for $500 in conquest cash on top of the $7,000.

You know 18mpg highway is not that bad when you consider that most vans and small suv's get 20-24mpg. Maybe this incentive will move the ones off the lots and then they can kill off the brand.
They forgot to advertise that with every Hummer H3 sold the owner gets (for free) the reputation that he hates the environment, hates other drivers, doesn't care how many gallons to the mile his H3 gets, is self-centered, fantasizes that bigger is better, belongs to the "me" generation, and is a complete and absolute jerk. Act now for this offer could expire soon!
Yes, that is their reputation.
KJ's post about the poor reputation of Hummer owners will make seeing the results of the huge rebates even more interesting.
If GM can't move them with the rebates, it will REALLY show the death of the over-the-top suv.
It will also show that people ONLY bought the things for image in the first place and, now that the image is tarnished, will buy something a bit more practical.
The H3 is actually not a bad mid-size SUV. If you want those offroad capabilities and all the cargo and rear seatroom it's not that bad an option.
The H3 has a bad rep just because the H1 and h2 were way over the top. The H3 actually has many similarities and underpinnings of some large GM SUV and trucks but no one goes after them to the same degree...or after some Jeep products that are no different.
Ziggy: That's why I said the sales results will be interesting. Will the image kill sales no matter the price?
The fact that you could buy a very similar GM vehicle, usually for less money, would indicate that image WAS a major selling factor. Now that selling factor could work in reverse.
Dave,
How about a comparison with the Jeep Wrangler? Didn't you guys do one before?
BTW, how about throw in the FJ Cruiser or 4 Runner in the blend?
who buys a freaking Hummer to go off road? they are some of the cleanest vehicles on the road because people buy them mostly for the "bling" factor. are you kidding me??? how often do these H3 owners go off road? they probably should've gotten off their asses and go off road in a mountain bike -- get some exercise AND leave some of the beauty in nature instead of destroying it all with the big fat tires (not to mention the pollution).
irony is, you can't be too fat to get an H3 -- my mom's CR-V has more interior room (hip, shoulder room etc) and 6 more cubic feet of luggage volume. how embarrassing is that?
the irony is, people should really
Does it still have a 4 speed automatic?
