Recall Alert: 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe

2003pontiacvibe

We can now confirm that GM is recalling 122,593 2003 and 2004 model year Pontiac Vibes. The Vibe is built alongside the Toyota Matrix and Corolla, which announced recalls over the same model years yesterday. All three are being recalled thanks to faulty window bolts that can come loose and cause windows to shatter.

The recall affects only models with power windows. Notices will go out to owners this month.

saw this story over at msn.com as part of their headlines. but there was no story for the corolla/matrix, at least in the headlines. so the regular person just knows that gm builts bad cars.

I have a car on which the window shattered Friday. I had moved since the time I purchased the car. I do not remember ever getting a recall notice. Now that the window is shattered, will the dealer pay to fix the window? The symptoms prior to the window shattering were exactly as described in the recall. Does anyone know what happens when the window has shattered? Who pays for the new window? Before I phone the dealer, I want to find out what is generally done. Thanks for your help. Betty

The same thing happened to my 2004 Vibe! My passenger side window exploded and shattered as well, I just went and had it replaced and now my driver side window has not shattered but has come off track, I don't recall getting any information on this in the mail either. Do you think there is a chance I could get this one replaced or if the bolts caused it to jump off track. I know before this happend, my window would make a popping noise as you open & closed the window.
I live in Baton Rouge, LA. Has anyone had similar problems or know if I can still take my car to the dealership, because the passenger side window was like $200! Thanks for all of your help! Email me at djackson5860@yahoo.com
