2009 Honda Pilot Photo Gallery
It’s now 2 a.m. here in Chicago, and while most actions these days can be automated, we didn’t want to risk the chance of these photos leaking out before they were ready. Luckily for me, I have a seven-week-old who likes to get up every couple of hours in the middle of the night and wake his daddy. So, anyone else up at this ungodly hour can now check out the 2009 Honda Pilot in all its glory in the photo gallery below.
2009 Honda Pilot Expert Review (Cars.com)

What were they thinking? This model actuallly looks less modern than the current Pilot. The interior is pretty nice looking, but the exterior is HIDEOUS. This model could have been released 5 years ago and noone would think that it looked futuristic.

Interior is awesome! Exterior ... oh well. Looks larger - is Honda is now set to introduce another SUV to slot in between this and the CRV?

Ziggy,
I doubt Honda would add another SUV at this time no. They do have the Element and Ridgeline as other utilitarian type vehicles. Do they need more?

The interior looks very impressive; however, the exterior is a big dissapointment! Perhaps after two or three years, the mid-year cycle refreshning will bring more attractive sheet metal than this. I'm probably over reacting now since I may eventually grow to like it, but first impression is a big thing. The grill and the headlights make the pilot seem as though it is confused or insecure about something. It needs to be more aggressive and make a bolder statement than it is now, but then again I guess Honda wanted to differentiate the Pilot fromt he MDX. They did that part right. O just a side note: Me <3 Acura MDX

Dave
There are rumors of another SUV, possibly around 2011 ( US version of the Crossroad)and the Element might be discontinued. There might also be a crossover version of the Stream.

Heres the Model Release Matrix from the Temple of VTEC

There predicting a crossover plus the introduction of the Stream.

This is one that falls into category "Love it or hate it".
One thing is interesting here. Honda is known for aerodynamic designs. Where is the aerodynamics on this car?
Also, if you think carefully, only the front third of the car is bad. Rest of it not too bad. Still, looks like a huge box on little wheels.

Ziggy,
I don't see why they need an SUV/crossover in this range. The stream would make some sense if the Element is gone, but its not like the Mazda5 and Kia Rondo have set the world on fire in that segment. But yeah, it makes some sense.
Otherwise I think they're banking a lot on the new hybrid/s.

The Pilot use to be vanilla. Now it's just plain ugly, and I am a Honda loyalist, having owned 2 Preludes, and now own an Accord. The CR-V went sleek, and is now the best selling SUV in America. So, why did Honda go the opposite way with the Pilot? It looks like a brick with a scared bugs face.

You may not see a need but I think Honda is looking to expand it's current line-up and as their past history goes - they do it very gradually. The Mazda5 and Kia Rondo have not set the world on fire because they are Mazdas and Kias. If the Fit was a Kia - it wouldn't sell well. Honda will be able to sell whatever they put out there. Honda will persue a hybrid variety while at the same time producing a variety of SUVs/CUVs. This will keep them within federal mileage standards.

Boring. A Pathfinder from behind. A Dodge from the side and a Honda in the front. It's dull, with one too many plastic accents in the interior. But, it just might be boring enough for everyone to like it.
BRING BACK THE PRELUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I take it that this design will make the Pilot even more prone to flipping over, probably at 10 mph now...?

If I want a Jeep Liberty/Dodge Nitro, I'll get that sucker!

I find that the new Pilot has a frog face from the front, maybe it's the headlights and grill.

It looks like a bigger version of the Crossroad but the Crossroad is cute, this is hideous.

What's the deal with Honda's styling? The new Pilot looks a bit like a facelifted Isuzu Trooper. The Accord looks like the old Saturn L series.
